TransMonk
Aug 29 2007 05:44 PM

The Phillies announcers are crap.

They were so sure that ball was gone before Beltran caught it.

Kalas should stick to football.

Carlos doubles and Carlos singles. Just like old times.

Tied game.

I don't think they had planned to do that tonight, Edge, but since you mentioned it... sure.

Edgy DC
Aug 29 2007 06:28 PM

Sarge in the Philly booth, and he looks old.

Beltran stole third on an Alou ground out to third, should never have happened,Delgado brought him home with the single.

We're out hitting 'em 7-2...but still tied.

Mets at the movies tonight at the Ziegfield ,Greg did you go...Dick Schofield is Jason Werth's uncle.

Moyer done for the night...

TransMonk
Aug 29 2007 07:07 PM

Perez likely done as well as he leads off the next frame and has over 100 pitches.

10 Ks for Ollie.

Reyes walks with one out,Romero on the hill.

Hi guys.

The offense is killing me.

metirish
Aug 29 2007 07:15 PM

Reyes picked off again.....unreal..

Edgy DC
Aug 29 2007 07:18 PM

That motion is unreal.

If that's not a balk, I don't run on him. Moreso than most lefthanders, it's like he just stops and tries a pick in the middle of his motion.

metirish
Aug 29 2007 07:19 PM

Yet Darling didn't rate Romero's move,at least not to Moyer's..

Philly booth blaming Milledge.

That outfield wall is full of hazards, isn't it?

Is that where Cleon went?

Kid Carsey
Aug 29 2007 07:27 PM

I haven't really thought about until I just saw a dugout shot of Hojo and
Willie but ya gotta wonder how well they get along when the Mets are
struggling to score two runs a game in crunch time when Willie ain't
really Willie's guy.

Just thinking out loud.

Edgy DC
Aug 29 2007 07:29 PM

I get your point.

1st and 3rd 1 out, come on Green, time to show us you still belong on the team.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 29 2007 07:55 PM

I just changed my son's name to Anderson.

Frayed Knot
Aug 29 2007 07:56 PM

From the 'Just Thinking Ahead' file; arms in the Philly OF:

Victorino = VERY good

Rowand = Decent but nothing special

Burrell = Better than you'd think considering his other fielding skills

metsguyinmichigan
Aug 29 2007 07:56 PM

Marlon was a brilliant Omar pick-up!

Edgy DC
Aug 29 2007 07:56 PM

Missed you, Endy.

Pop one up, Shawnnie.

metsguyinmichigan

Heck, a decent fly ball keeps us in the game.

Best call of the series so far. This crew sucks...but Marlon did interfere.

bmfc1
Aug 29 2007 08:01 PM

I thought that Anderson was a smart player but he should have realized that Green has decent speed and that ball was hit too slowly to double him up.

Frayed Knot
Aug 29 2007 08:02 PM

A regular take-out slide would have done the job there.

metirish
Aug 29 2007 08:03 PM

No need to intefere like that as it turns out, very frustrating....

wait until you see the play,Gary was screaming "tied game" one` second and " nooooooo' the next.

Zvon
Aug 29 2007 08:15 PM

now THAT was interference. (see IGT from game 1 for what I said)

Shame on u Marlon- shame,shame,shame

Anderson could have ran from 1st straight into right field and we were gonna tie that game.

I hope in Oct Im NOT pointing back at any one game for any reason, but if I am, it'll be to this game.

ARRRRRGHH

Frayed Knot
Aug 29 2007 08:15 PM

btw, that slide wasn't nearly as bad as the one the Phils did NOT get called for the other day against the Padres - one that put M Giles on the DL when it was all over. That one was both interference by the rules AND dirty to boot.

Zvon and I had a brief conversation about it in one of the IGTs a game or two ago.

Zvon
Aug 29 2007 08:17 PM

="Johnny Dickshot"]I just changed my son's name to Anderson.

Id rethink that J.D.

Zvon
Aug 29 2007 08:32 PM

watching the Willie post game interview.

he says he doesnt think the slide was interference.
Something about baseball not being played aggressively anymore.

I echo those sentiments in regards to that Ruiz/Giles incident last week, but Willie,......what slide were you watching?

Guess a good manager always goes to bat for his boys.

HahnSolo
Aug 29 2007 08:33 PM

Good call by CJ Bucknor, and I can't believe I'm writing that.

That said, I watched all the replays, and despite it being a slowly hit ball, I don't think it's a given that Green beats it out. As it was, when Iguchi got the ball out of his hands Green was still a few strides from the bag. He probably beats it out, but I don't think it's definite.

TransMonk
Aug 29 2007 08:37 PM

Regardless, the Mets had what seems like about 17 other ways they could have won this game.

metirish
Aug 29 2007 09:16 PM

Backing up what Zvon posted Willie thought it was a bad call,Marlon touched the bag so Willie felt his hands being up meant nothing.

Like Monk said though we could look at lots of other areas where the Mets sucked.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 29 2007 09:27 PM

There's the small matter of the Phillies being better than we are.

Edgy DC
Aug 29 2007 11:09 PM

If any of you are planning a trip back in time, how about sending Gotay up there?

Not that I want to undermine Greenie's confidence or anything, but do you want the guy who hits more modestly deep flies (Green) or the one who is more likely to stay out of the doubleplay (Gotay)?

Gotay, for what it's worth, also has the higher K rate.

Edgy DC
Aug 30 2007 06:20 AM

No overnight support for the Goat?

It jsut seems so perfect. You know, "Ruben, Gotay this game up."

metirish
Aug 30 2007 06:27 AM

Would Milledge had made that slide, would he got on in the first place,Mets win today and get the Phillies back to four then take two in Atlanta....we can do this.

seawolf17
Aug 30 2007 06:33 AM

I'd have gone with Gotay there too. But I'm not Willie, and this loss isn't his fault.

Just go get 'em today, fellas.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 30 2007 07:29 AM

I'm OK with Green there. He did the minimum that was required and might have walked too.

The Goat woulda been more likely to whiff and less likely to walk.

More surprised nobody wants to challenge my outrageous, Rollinsesque assertion that the Phillies were the better team??

TransMonk
Aug 30 2007 07:29 AM

I'd have gone with Green.

They may have been for the first two games of the series. I don't feel like the Mets played game 3 all that badly...many more tough breaks went Philly's way. Still, it doesn't change the fact that a loss is a loss.

Edgy DC
Aug 30 2007 08:32 AM

Better at the moment, no doubt, and shining from the return of their best hitter. The Mets still have the better record with 4.5 weeks to play.

(deniial)They're fundamentally flawed also, in some ways, where our flaws might be more ephemeral.(/deniial)

Let me just get this out, though: Jamie Moyer! Are you kidding me?!
