This is what I was afraid of (but afraid to talk about) -- that after losing several low-scoring games you're bound to run into one of those days when your starting pitcher doesn't have it ... and then you're really cooked. Meanwhile up the turnpike ... the BoSox are continuing their experiment of not getting any hits for the first half of the game and then seeing if they can stay in it. That it didn't work yesterday doesn't seem to concern them.

Unless the Mets score four runs in the top of the ninth, there's no way Wagner doesn't go out there for the bottom of the ninth, even if it's three pitchers due up in the ninth. He's getting paid too much to give a save chance to someone else. (Interesting; Gary's just now raising the possibility that he might not come back out there for the 9th.)
