Gay Dame Panicky IGT, 8/30 @ Philly

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 30 2007 07:46 AM

It's Hernandez v. Kyle Lohse for all the marbles. We beat up Lohse back in July when he was a Red. I'd say a strong asskicking is in order

I wouldn't want any other Mets starter out there right now, offense needs to feast on this Lohse.

That reason is apparently the Eagles *exhibition game across the street tonight.

A sound roundhouse would be a nice way to make them forget any warm fuzzies from the last few days.

seawolf17
Aug 30 2007 09:06 AM

I want to see them go out there and score 18 runs today. Just beat the ever-loving hell out of them. Sure, they'll have lost 3 of 4, but at least I'll feel better.

Johnny Dickshot
Aug 30 2007 09:57 AM

Castillo, who I am certain is badly hurt, gets the day off. Alou is taking a day off from grounding out to shortstop or lining out to left. LoDuca needs time to work on his bad attitude. Milledge, who tattooed Lohse last time, is getting punished for not being any better than Green.

A Wright single and stolen base sums up the first.

Thirty steals.

soupcan

Utley flies to right.
Burrell pops to Difelice.
Howard homers to center.

Willets Point
Aug 30 2007 11:31 AM

Can they be hitting them any harder off Hernandez?

Edgy DC
Aug 30 2007 11:33 AM

It's that they hit him that worries me.

I know it's the first inning, but with a runner on second, you figure a smart old guy pitches around a hot Ryan Howard.

Willets Point
Aug 30 2007 11:43 AM

May as well not ruin the perfect suckiness by having a man on base. Let 'em get picked off.

bmfc1
Aug 30 2007 11:44 AM

Getting picked off was a strategical move so the pitcher doesn't lead off the next inning.

Edgy DC

Frayed Knot
Aug 30 2007 12:20 PM

This is what I was afraid of (but afraid to talk about) -- that after losing several low-scoring games you're bound to run into one of those days when your starting pitcher doesn't have it ... and then you're really cooked.

Meanwhile up the turnpike ... the BoSox are continuing their experiment of not getting any hits for the first half of the game and then seeing if they can stay in it. That it didn't work yesterday doesn't seem to concern them.

Willets Point
Aug 30 2007 12:22 PM

It would be really exacerbating if they can get Wright to 3rd before stranding him there.

Uh, he allowed five runs in three innings, including three HR's. The Phillies were crushing the ball off of him. I see no reason to keep him in the game. Especially when the Mets actually have a rally going for once and could use a pinch-hitter.

To be fair, this wasn't a lazy fly ball to the warning track but a ball hit as deep as one can hit it and still not have it go over the wall and even then it wasn't a double because Rowand made a great catch.

Which is the other bad part of Manuel's IW strategy ... loading the bases when his pitchers couldn't find the plate when NOT trying to walk them.

Unless the Mets score four runs in the top of the ninth, there's no way Wagner doesn't go out there for the bottom of the ninth, even if it's three pitchers due up in the ninth. He's getting paid too much to give a save chance to someone else.

(Interesting; Gary's just now raising the possibility that he might not come back out there for the 9th.)

If it's true a rich man leads a sad life
That's what they say, from day to day
Then what do the poor do with their lives?
On judgment day, with nothin' to say?

I've been beat up, I've been thrown Out
But I'm not down, Oh I'm not down
I've been shown up, but I've grown up
And I'm not down, Oh I'm not down

On my own I faced a gang of jeering
In strange streets
When my nerves were pumping out
I Fought my fear in, I didn't run
I was not done

I've been beat up, I've been thrown Out
But I'm not down, No I'm not down
I've been shown up, but I've grown up
And I'm not down, No I'm not down

So I have lived, that kind of day
When none of your sorrows will go away
Go down and down and hit the floor
Down and down and down some more
Depression
But I know, there'll be some way
When I can swing everything back my way
Like skyscrapers, rising up
Floor by floor, I'm not giving up

So you rock around and think that
You're the toughest
In the world, the whole wide world
But you're streets away from where
It gets the roughest
You ain't been there

I've been beat up, I've been thrown Out
But I'm not down, No I'm not down
I've been shown up, but I've grown up
And I'm not down, No I'm not down

No I'm not down
No I'm not down
No I'm not down
No I'm not down
