Um... aren't you missing somebody?
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 02:01 PM |
I did a double take when the Australian Atlanta pitcher said "FOX."
Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:36 PM |
Nine up, nine down for Mike Pelfrey.
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 02:39 PM |
who is on the mound and where did mike pelfrey go?
Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:41 PM |

Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:42 PM |
11.
Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:45 PM |
A walk to Chipper Jones breaks the string and Texiera singles him to third.
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 02:45 PM |
Chipper walks to end the perfect game in the 4th. Texiera ends the no-hitter. The most important thing (the shutout) is still alive but in serious danger
Valadius Sep 01 2007 02:46 PM |
Fuck you Larry!!!!!!!!!
OlerudOwned Sep 01 2007 02:48 PM |
Wow, that was some uncanny color commentary.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 02:48 PM |
mmm,mmm,mmmwow.
Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:48 PM |
But he gets McKann.
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 02:50 PM |

Agreed--great job by Girardi. If Buck was there, he'd be hogging the mike. Stockton is giving Girardi room.

Spraying a Chipper Jones card with nip and watching my cat go to town on it is pretty entertaining.
Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:55 PM |
Delgado 2, Jones 0.

Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 02:57 PM |
Looks like Andy Fletcher cost the Mets a run.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:00 PM |
yea, right Francouer,...Pelfry meant to do that..ha..
OlerudOwned Sep 01 2007 03:00 PM |
Francouer isn't bright.
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 03:06 PM |
shit bases loaded. shit schoenweis in the bullpen.
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 03:07 PM |
sac fly scores 1 and the other runners stay put, i'll take that.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:10 PM |
come on Pelf--put em on the shelf.
Edgy DC Sep 01 2007 03:10 PM |
Both Gameday and the Braves announcerew are saying that Jeff Kellogg is reobbing Pelfrey inside.
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 03:11 PM |
Pelfrey gets out of it!
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:11 PM |
ooooo
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:13 PM |
well, then the Braves themselves are generously giving it back by swinging their bats at unhittable pitches.' UNHITTABLE I TELLS YA!
Kid Carsey Sep 01 2007 03:17 PM |
This is funny ...

Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:21 PM |

Hi guys, just getting here.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:30 PM |
PELFREY!
OlerudOwned Sep 01 2007 03:31 PM |
And here I was calling for Humber to get the start instead of Pelfrey.

Whoops. Sorry Im so fast. Now it looks like your making baby noises.

Gwreck Sep 01 2007 03:41 PM |

I would agree. Stockton and Girardi (on the Fox broadcat) are ignoring it. Worst example I think was the walk to L. Jones in the 4th. Also worth noting that the second base umpire was out of position and blew the call on LoDuca at 2nd base.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 01 2007 03:44 PM |
Not Mota...........
metsguyinmichigan Sep 01 2007 03:47 PM |
Wow! Wright is just kicking butt and taking all names. Nice play.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:47 PM |

If the Braves didnt swing at those nastynastynastynasty curveballs I dont think they get called strikes. BIG DP! around the horn!
Frayed Knot Sep 01 2007 03:48 PM |
Wright's fielding is MUCH improved from early in the year and in virtually all aspects: charging bunts, starting DPs, smothering hots shots, throwing on the run, etc. Still gets a little wild if he has too much time on his hand but that's a minor nit picked.
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 03:51 PM |
Reyes and Wright could both win GGs but since that award is in large part given because of reputation, I think that they might be too young.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 01 2007 03:51 PM |
I'm starting to see stories touting Wright as an MVP candidate. Gotta like that.
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 03:55 PM |
Notice the Mets don't act like idiots when they get it.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:55 PM |
ooooh
Willets Point Sep 01 2007 03:57 PM |
Whoops! I foolishly assumed that a summer game in Atlanta would be a night game.
Zvon Sep 01 2007 03:57 PM |
WTF!!!???
Kid Carsey Sep 01 2007 03:58 PM |
What the hell is up with all these pick-offs?
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 03:58 PM |
How friggin' stupid!
Willets Point Sep 01 2007 03:58 PM |

Ricky wearing armor in the coaching box.....on his elbow(lol).

Frayed Knot Sep 01 2007 04:07 PM |

I suspect that was Castillo's which Rickey then temporarily inherits upon Luis reaching first. Franco PHs and actually pulls a ball !! Now Diaz PHs and strikes out which also means Atlanta has a worse LFer for the 9th inning. Killer inning for Feliciano -- I'll take it.
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 04:10 PM |
After the tragedy in the minors, I wonder if base coaches will start wearing helmets.

Zvon Sep 01 2007 04:11 PM |

Doh! Can't call me impatient, you can call me stupid though.

See where Encarnacion of the Reds got smoked in the face while in the on-deck circle Friday night? Had a helmet on obviously but it didn't help in this case. I'm almost surprised that doesn't happen more often. And then when you figure that in a lot of these new stadiums that there are fans not a whole lot further away than that ...
Valadius Sep 01 2007 04:20 PM |
Where the hell has this incarnation of Delgado been for the past freaking month???
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 04:23 PM |
Feliciano is mowing them down, his 3rd straight strikeout looking.
Elster88 Sep 01 2007 04:23 PM |

He was on a tear before he got hurt.

Zvon Sep 01 2007 04:24 PM |

Willets Point Sep 01 2007 04:25 PM |
Beautiful!
Frayed Knot Sep 01 2007 04:26 PM |
Nice job Pedro ... but we only play 9 innings in this league. (see him run towards the dugout like there was more to go?)
Nymr83 Sep 01 2007 04:26 PM |
i doubt it. as far as i know that the only base coach to ever die, how many others have been seriously injured? figure between the NL, AL, all the minors, and the independent leagues there are over 25,000 professional baseball games in the united states every year, and one guy has died. you aren't that safe riding your bike and most adult riders don't wear a helmet either.
Gwreck Sep 01 2007 04:26 PM |
Wow.
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 04:26 PM |
PUT IT IN THE BOOKS! Get job (the pick-offs notwithstanding). Lots of Schaefer to go around but "big ups" to Pelfrey. FOX gave Beltran the POG but we know that it was Pelfrey.
Frayed Knot Sep 01 2007 04:28 PM |
An additional perk to thumping the Braves - hopefully 3 times after tomorrow - is that we can put ourselves in the position to root FOR them when they play the Phils next week.
bmfc1 Sep 01 2007 04:28 PM |
Did you see that Feliciano didn't realize that the game was over? He ran off the mound to the dugout. He admitted it on FAN.
Willets Point Sep 01 2007 04:29 PM |
I will NEVER root FOR the Braves. If the Mets do their job and just keep winning more than they lose, I don't care what the other NL East teams do to each other. What the Mets do or don't do is all that matters.
Willets Point Sep 01 2007 04:30 PM |
I guess he doesn't get to finish too many games. First series win vs. Atlanta this season.
Valadius Sep 01 2007 04:31 PM |
I wish we'd see more of Feliciano and less of freaking Schoeneweis.
Gwreck Sep 01 2007 04:38 PM |
Scott Schoeneweis in August:

Zvon Sep 01 2007 04:42 PM |

this boggles my mind. I guess cause he went only 6...but these days, thats a full days work for a pitcher. He held em to 1 freakin hit--and its the Braves in the stretch.

Willets Point Sep 01 2007 05:27 PM |

My formula gave Beltran the edge too, fwiw.
metirish Sep 01 2007 08:45 PM |
Didn't see the game but was so thrilled when I checked on the score.
Johnny Dickshot Sep 01 2007 08:56 PM |
We watched the Tigers* today instead, but caught the end on the radio on the way home. Gotta admire how Pelfrey was able to lower expectations so thoroughly that such a performance like today's seemed unimaginable.
