I think the trick for now is Alou is fifth against lefties and Delgado against righties.

I'm guessing he's going for Delgado-Alou-Green and Alou-Delgado-Milledge... ...which I guess is essentially the same thing

I forget the numbers, but they said on the pre-game that Green has some really good ones versus Smoltz if I half-heard correctly.

Wright seemingly has his head up his ass early on. He (I'm assuming it was his fault and not Castillo's) missed a hit and run sign before and that play at plate cost the Mets a run too. Thankfully, the Mets are only down 1 - sniffle after two.

Nice to get a run home with Glavine up in the big slot. Wright saw the play at home in front of him. I wonder if somebody yelled for him to go to second.

Alou tossed as he gets called on a check swing...first base ump tossed him first then the home plate ump.

I think baseball really needs to examine the role of umpires in a game over the off-season. I know we all harp about the good-ole-days, but jeez some stuff is just true because it is; the best umpired game is when they're not seen or heard from and just meld into the back round.

KC--You're absolutely right. The game should be won or lost by the players, not the umps. If the crooked NBA ref was an ump, he could seize on any disagreement to toss a star player.
