Unofficially, according to Marty Noble. So who the hell knows. But I wanted to start a new thread. Sue me. The other Pedro thread is about Feliciano.

]PHILADELPHIA -- The figure on the Mets' horizon, as high profile a September callup as they ever have had, came into sharper focus Wednesday afternoon, when the club added more definition to its plans for the return of Pedro Martinez. Without official word, it now is quite probable Martinez will make his 2007 debut against the Astros at Shea Stadium either Sept. 8 or 9.

Word is that they're adding a fifth tier to Shea just for that game so they can sell an extra 22,000 seats.

It's crazy but some of the beat writers are of the opinion that if Pedro pitches half way decent and the Mets make the post-season then he's the third starter(both things are no given )....in fact Steve Popper the Mets beat writer for the Bergan Record stated on a podcast that he feels no matter what Pedro is starting in the post-season..no chance of him going to the pen..

Decding how to gently tell Oliver Perez that he's been bumped because Pedro has pitched his way into the post-season plans is too good a problem to worry about.
