During tonight's game I'm gonna enjoy a meal I cooked myself - pasta with chicken and broccoli in a garlic and oil sauce from Bertolli. First time I've ever cooked on my stove.

Let's go Mets!!!

Benjamin Grimm
Sep 10 2007 04:55 PM

If they win you're going to have eat that every night.

Edgy DC
Sep 10 2007 05:00 PM

Hot stove league.

Kid Carsey
Sep 10 2007 05:04 PM

Andruw and Chipper late scratches???

They did show Chipper laughing it up with Omar, maybe Cox got pissed.

Details to follow.

Sep 10 2007 05:05 PM

Yeah Cohen said both are out.

Kid Carsey
Sep 10 2007 05:10 PM

Chipper strained oblique, Andruw is sick ... dang, I wanted controversy.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 05:12 PM

I wouldn't mind eating this every night - it's freaking delicious!

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 05:26 PM

Two straight singles off of Hudson to start our half of the first.

It's horrible right?......but you cooked it so you have to eat it and convince yourself that it's great,I've been there Val.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 05:46 PM

Actually, it was pretty decent, maybe a little underdone, but I'll fix that next time. I'm glad I was just cooking from a package from my freezer and not from scratch - I probably would have burned it!

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 05:53 PM

Dookie throws out Escobar to end the inning!

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 05:59 PM

Hudson gets Perez, Reyes, and Castillo to all ground out to second in the third.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:11 PM

Six consecutive ground outs to second base for the Mets. Hey guys, you don't have to hit it to Prado.

Mendoza Line
Sep 10 2007 06:12 PM

Hudson gets Wright, Beltran, and Alou to all ground out to second in the fourth.

Seven now,amazin.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 06:14 PM

We've grounded out to second seven consecutive times now.

1. Milledge
2. Perez
3. Reyes
4. Castillo
5. Wright
6. Beltran
7. Alou

Come on, we can do better than that!

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:21 PM

Anywhere but second base, Green. They appear to have that covered.

Mendoza Line
Sep 10 2007 06:21 PM

Green grounds to first. Is that progress?

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 06:22 PM

Finally, we do something other than ground out to second - ground out to first.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:22 PM

Well, at least it's different.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 06:24 PM

Dookie singles to center! A hit!

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:44 PM

Perez gets out of a potential jam in the 6th with a little help from his friends.

Let's get a few runs in the bottom half.

willpie, nice to have you stop by.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 06:45 PM

Dookie throws out Hudson at second, and Perez notches his 6th strikeout in as many innings to retire Diaz.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:47 PM

Reyes leads off the inning with a walk. Never a bad start for a Mets rally.

The Diamond Stolen Base

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:49 PM

Then he steals second base. Now there's a surprise. Okay, now Castillo needs to drive him in with one of his little flares over the infield.

Mendoza Line
Sep 10 2007 06:50 PM

Nice bunt. Giving the Braves a free out...not so nice.

Willets Point
Sep 10 2007 06:53 PM

That's one way to bring the runner home from third.

Mendoza Line
Sep 10 2007 06:53 PM

See that - who needs small ball?!?!?

Wright is the man!

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:54 PM

David Wright with a 2-run KABOOM.

Mendoza Line
Sep 10 2007 06:56 PM

This is a lot more fun than a bunch of ground balls to second.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 06:58 PM

Moises follows up Wrights blast with a triple. *

*Not a typo. He actually tripled.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 07:00 PM

David goes KABOOM!!!

This ties him with Bobby Bonilla for 10th place all-time on the Mets home run list, at 95.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 07:05 PM

Alou now has a 15-game hitting streak.

Wright's home run was his 28th of the year, setting a new career high. His two RBIs gives him 353 for his career, tying Lee Mazzilli for 14th all-time on the Mets RBI list.

Willets Point
Sep 10 2007 07:15 PM

No big whoop.

This is still a Mets win in the making.

Edgy DC
Sep 10 2007 07:17 PM

Too much extra-contextual stuff distracts from the gamey, where a two-run McCsnn homer puts the Braves a mere run down.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 07:17 PM

McCann answers Wright with a 2 run home run for Atlanta.

3-2 Mets as we enter the seventh inning stretch.

Zvon
Sep 10 2007 07:21 PM

Damn that McCann.

I HATE Braves that are.....really good.

That was about the game, the game the Mets are going to win.

And enough of the cutesy words like gamey.

Valadius
Sep 10 2007 07:27 PM

In comes Heilman for the eighth.

Gwreck
Sep 10 2007 07:30 PM

Aaron Heilman = my new hero.

Sorry to play the crank, I wasn't referring to your post.

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 07:33 PM

Heilman with a 1-2-3 inning. A few runs in the home half of the eighth would sure make me feel better when Wagner comes in for the ninth.

Nymr83
Sep 10 2007 07:46 PM

jus got home, looks like a great outing by Perez

seawolf17
Sep 10 2007 07:47 PM

Pretty catch by Carlos Beltran to end it.

Looks like they fixed Willie Collazo's name on his uni.

Mendoza Line
Sep 10 2007 07:47 PM

And Wagner gets it done with some help from Beltran. Mets win!

Rockin' Doc
Sep 10 2007 07:48 PM

Mets win by a final score of 3-2.

Pow. Beltran actually got it done with some help from Beltran.

Crank is an early baseball term for fan. Not a bad thing to be.

Unless you're taking the piss.

Zvon
Sep 10 2007 07:56 PM

Just saw that catch by Beltraan.

Fun game and my 6th win vs. 0 losses this year at Shea. Don't ask me how I did it.

Thought Wright's HR was a sac fly (that was all I was actually hoping for) and that Alou'd tripler was a foul ball. So much for my perspective. Was trying to figure out how many consecutive grounballs to 2nd when LoDuca interupted.

Big play: The Pickoff of Hudson. Hudson had to be the very last guy in the Stadium who saw that play unfold. It was like slow motion.

Meet the Matts came by. Those guys are funny, or at least look funny. Greg W. Fear came by, and just in time to rescue a conversation between my brother and me that had ground to a halt over our inability to remember what Gin Blossoms song was written by Marshall Crenshaw. We'd recalled all their hits except...

Greg came up with it. Though I think he called it: "Till You Hear it from Me." We knew what he meant. Good job.

Then as we walked to the 7, guys behind us sung Let's Go Mets Go (teamwork to make the dream work) and we joined in.

Good win.

I'll take half a Schaefer point for that.

I forgot to mention the most important thing.

National anthem sung by Randy Jackson of Zebra. That is the 2nd time I've been at the same Met game when Randy sings the NA.

Both times I rooted for him to break into "who's behind the door" but he didn't.

Is there a time delay in Val's apartment?

Edgy DC
Sep 11 2007 09:02 AM

I think the music world needs a fourth Randy Jackson. That way, they could tour as the Randy Jacksons.

Valadius
Sep 11 2007 10:52 AM

CF - kind of. My internet speed is pretty much pre-historic, and I'm trying to get Comcast to come back and fix it. "High-Speed Internet" it is not.

"I'm not dead! I can play drums!"

Edgy DC

I think Randy Jackson of the Jacksons is your drummer, along with Idol-dog on drums and Zebra-boy on guitar.
