Starting off today is the first game of a double-header between Detroit and Texas. Detroit is now only 3.5 games back of the MFYs for the ALWC, but they're facing, surprisingly, one of the hottest teams in baseball in the Rangers, who've won 5 straight and 12 of 14.

Texas is currently crushing Detroit, 10-0, in the top of the 7th. The Rangers have hit 5 homers, including two from Marlon Byrd.

... make that six as Hank Blalock launched a solo shot to make it 11-0, Texas.

We have to accept that, despite how promising things started out, the Yankees are in the playoffs yet again this year.

The thought that they probably won't go in as a division winner is of no comfort.

Especially when they hoist the World Series trophy and the fawning media portrays them as underdogs who overcame adversity to win it all.

How about we look forward to a World Series rematch so we can kick their ass this time?

Nah, that would be great if it happens, but I'm prefer to see them make a first round exit again.

Beating Anaheim or Cleveland would be plenty of fun. And so would beating Boston, which, as I recall, was a lot of fun last time around.

C'mon. Beating the Yankees in the World Series wouldn't be the utmost?

I'd hate for the Mets to lose to them again but they can't beat them if they don't play them.

Bor-ing!

Really, the Yankees have kept more deserving teams out of the postseason for far too long. The sooner they're out of contention the better. And then all the attention can be focused squarely where it belongs - on the Mets.

I'm fine with that.

There's no way I can root for the Yankees in the ALDS in order for the Mets to have a shot at them.

Beating Cleveland is good enough for me.

The division isn't out of the question if they sweep Boston this weekend...
