Zvon
Sep 14 2007 05:34 PM

1-0 Metroploitans after 2.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 05:40 PM

Glavines gotta be reeeeeal careful with Rollins

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 05:43 PM

A nice 1-2-3 for Tom.

You see that foul ball to left?
Memories of Bartman.
And Alou looked up as if to distribute some blame, but the fans there, who could have pawed that, were laid back.

Kool stuff.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 05:48 PM

Reye's gets RIPPED!

That was ball 4!

bmfc1
Sep 14 2007 05:49 PM

Not just ball 4, ball 5 and ball 6! Unbelievable.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 05:56 PM

Whew..I thought Howard certainly got enough of that to clear the fence in right.
Milledge hauls it in and kisses the wall.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 06:06 PM

Well, Comcast was just here, trying to fix my internet, only to find that they had to come back another day since the cable room was locked this late at night.

*sigh*

Looks like I didn't miss much.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:09 PM

Just a walk, 2 stolen bases by Castillo, fly out by Wright, walk by Beltran...

and Alou drives in Castillo with a baseknock to left

Mets up 2-0.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 06:11 PM

Looks like I tuned back in just in time!

Moises Alou gets a hit for an 18th consecutive game!

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:12 PM

Damn that Chase Utley.
Plays the broken bat grounder by Conine perfectly, tagging Alou out on the basepath and tossing to 1st for the DP.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:17 PM

Werth just misses one,...looked to me like Alou stole a homer there, but it may not have cleared the wall.
It was a lazy fly, and Alou played lazily.

He even made a funny face after the play, like ' easy pickins'.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 14 2007 06:24 PM

Jeff Conine switches uni numbers with Sandy Jr.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:25 PM

Phils broadcasters say Reyes was warned and fined for tossing his bat after that bad call K earlier.

I didnt see anything that deserved a fine.

He pops up here with Lastings on third, who hit a ground rule double, and we go to the 6th up 2-0.

Glavine looks good, as do the Mets in their best unis.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:28 PM

WOW--what a great pitch to Rollins with a Phil in scoring position.
Jams him to pop out.

Now lets get past that damn Utley.

Kid Carsey
Sep 14 2007 06:29 PM

Tossin' anything is a fine, the umps do that pointing thing. The pointing that
pisses me off is the ump walking up to Reyes with his finger wagging. That
pitch sequence and the umpires desire to be a visible ball buster just sucks.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:30 PM

Chase goes yard.
Tie game.
Damn.

DamndamndamndamndamndamndamndamndamndamnUtley.

Zvon

I agree.
Next thing I expect to see is a reality show about MLB umps.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:35 PM

Lets get a run real quick guys, answer right back.
For Tommy and the team.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:47 PM

They had a chance with the Castillo lead off single, but Wright hits into the tailor made DP.

Glavine gets thru the 7th nicely.
He's up to 96 pitches.

2-2, Mets.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:50 PM

Anyone know why the people sitting behind the Phils dugout are wearing fake mustaches?

Might not have noticed if the 9 yr old kid didnt have one.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:53 PM

Rollins with a GREAT catch of a Conine pop up.
Followed by a real nice play up the middle by that damn Utley.

Mets: 2, Phils: 2, Conine broken bats: 2.

Kid Carsey
Sep 14 2007 06:53 PM

It's porn 'stache night at Shea, they'll be on ebay tonight.

(actually they're some kind of Keith tribute giveaway)

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 06:58 PM

ooo--ooo-OOOOO

What a fantastic diving catch by Wright on the Moyer bunt.
Turns it into TWO!
wowzers!

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:03 PM

Glavines done, and Feliciano will face that damn Chase Utley with Rollins on 1st.

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:04 PM

Good night Old Fart.

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:06 PM

That was positively Piazzaesque.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:08 PM

Gets two quick strikes on Chase, and Rollins steals second....

and Reyes makes a real nice play on the Utley grounder towards the hole--he was blinded by J-Roll there, but played it flawlessly.
Big play, big out.

Feliciano gets it done.
Still tied.

Wow, this is just a great game so far.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:10 PM

Milledge is hit by an inside pitch to lead off the 8th.

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:10 PM

Milledge should storm the mound and hop on one leg.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:14 PM

I think he did toss his bat there.
CHING$$CHING$$

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 14 2007 07:18 PM

This is where I'd squeeze.

1st and 3rd, one out.

Maybe Gomez messing up that bunt will turn out well for us.
So far, so good.
He switched places with Milledge on the force out, stole second, and Reyes beat out and infield single to Utley.

Nymr83
Sep 14 2007 07:18 PM

send Reyes...they wouldnt dare throw to 2nd with 1 out and Gomez on 3rd

Nymr83
Sep 14 2007 07:19 PM

damn, Castillo struck out?? he can't hit the ball out of the infield! his entire game is contact, just make some!

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 14 2007 07:21 PM

That's his major drawback right there. Even if he does make contact, no guarantee ghe hits it far enough even to score a fast guy.

Squeeze is risky but I'd have tried it.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:21 PM

="Nymr83"]send Reyes...they wouldnt dare throw to 2nd with 1 out and Gomez on 3rd

You are soooo correct sir.

Nymr83
Sep 14 2007 07:22 PM

Gordon hits Wright on the 1st pitch he throws...fear of the MVP i think!

make him pay Beltran!

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:22 PM

Wow--they plunk Mr Wright.

Bags chucked for Beltran.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 07:25 PM

Bases loaded for Mr. Beltran. Make it count!

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:27 PM

Thats a big spot to K in Mr Beltran.

He did wave over a nice pitch, a pitchers pitch.

My pain continues.

Wags coming in to the tied game.

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:29 PM

Damn MLB.tv crashed with the bases loaded. How did the Mets not score a run there?

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 07:30 PM

Hopefully Alou will come up big next inning. And you guys all owe Mr. 18-game-hitting-streak some overdue Schaefer points.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:32 PM

="Willets Point"]Damn MLB.tv crashed with the bases loaded. How did the Mets not score a run there?

Alls I can say is at least CarlosBee didnt just stand there and look at it. He swung for strike 3.

Wagner Ks Burrell and Howard and is 0-2 on Rowand...

...STRIKE 3!

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:33 PM

Wagner is a tragic opera for the Phillies batters.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 07:34 PM

A 3-K inning from Wagner!

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 14 2007 07:34 PM

]Damn MLB.tv crashed with the bases loaded. How did the Mets not score a run there?

Simple: Bunting is for losers.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:36 PM

Conine bats against Gordon in the 9th.
Hmmmm...

He Ks.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:38 PM

THEY JUST TOSSED LODUCA!!

I COULD HEAR EVERYTHING HE SAID ABOUT THAT PITCH!
ALL HE SAID WAS "THAT WAS NOT A STRIKE!"THAT WAS NOT A STRIKE!"

And they toss him.
!!!!!!!!!

WTF!!!!???

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:41 PM

It's always nice to be without your starting catcher in extra innings.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 07:42 PM

One of Tim Donaghy's buddies?

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:46 PM

And LoDuca would have caught that pop up.
So that freakin ump might end up deciding this great game.

Heilman throws it into center.
Phils sac.
2nd and 3rd, 1 out.

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:49 PM

Poo!

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 07:52 PM

LoDuke was walking away from the box and the ump as he said "THAT WAS NOT A STRIKE! and I am still livid he was tossed.

Phils plate one on a sac fly by Dobbs.

But thats all they will get.

Mets have to reach Myers to keep this thing going.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 07:55 PM

I have no idea what's going on, because if Yahoo is to be believed, Lo Duca and Gordon were traded for each other between innings.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 14 2007 07:58 PM

Whaddaya know? Another pathetic effort against the Phillies.

Willets Point
Sep 14 2007 07:59 PM

We're still winning the NL East.

This was a fantastic game totally, totally, totally ruined by that fuckin umpire.

The at bat by Reyes--ridiculous.
The ump obviously had a bone to pick with Jose and picked strikes as balls.

As far as the Lo Duca tossing,........if I didn't hear EVERYTHING he said to that ump as he walked away, I would have to wonder if Paul said something nasty.

But I heard it all and ejecting Lo Duca there was more ridiculousley ridiculous.

Damn Utley,damn umps.
Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn.

Ahhh, ok.
Im okay now.
*VENTED*

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 08:04 PM

Damn, we lost.

All right, everybody, cough up those overdue Schaefer points for Moises Alou.

Damn you Chase

Gwreck
Sep 14 2007 09:21 PM

I realize that I cannot realistically tell if the Mets were being squeezed by the ump from my spot in the mezzanine but I know that he had no right to be following batters back to the dugout. His conduct contributed at least 50% to the Reyes and LoDuca confrontations. Willie gave the ump a good talking to between the innings after Reyes' called strike 3 but it clearly wasn't enough.

I hate Willie's strategy...or I should say lack thereof.

I know he doesn't like the squeeze but with Castillo (arguably our best bunter) up at the plate and Gomez (our fastest runner) at third, the situation absolutely called for the squeeze.

I also would've at least sent Reyes on the first pitch as well -- they wouldn't have thrown through with Gomez at third.

I was very surprised that Wagner didn't go out for a second inning. He had thrown 11 pitches, only 2 of which were strikes. He got Burrell-Howard-Rowand and would've had Werth-Ruiz-Nunez in the 10th. Don't understand how he wasn't good for a second inning.

Also would've PHed for Conine in the 9th (especially if Green was going to come into the game anyway) and would've thought about using Anderson for Milledge in the 10th.

Johnny Dickshot
Sep 14 2007 09:25 PM

Other options: Pinch-run Gomez for Milledge and steal, then pinch-hit Anderson or Green. Or just steal with Milledge.

Zvon
Sep 14 2007 09:45 PM

I agree with J.D. and Gwreck about that squeeze situation.

That stands out : great bunter/fast,fast runner.
I would have liked to have seen how the Phils had
been positioned on the field at that moment, but..meh,
a well executed squeeze there plates the run.

And I keep having this flashback of Difelice trying to catch a pop up from above between his chin and neck instead of in the 'ol ballglove, and I keep coming back to LODUCA SHOULD HAVE STILL BEEN IN THE GAME!

*Z hits the floor and goes into fetal position.
mmmmm,...thumb good.

What should tomorrows Met/Phil fun graphic say?
......i got nothin.

Valadius
Sep 14 2007 10:03 PM

Mr. Met wailing on Pat Burrell? I dunno.

Zvon

Lmao--priceless, but while the Gods of baseball may taunt me, I shall not reciprocate for fear of their powers as well as Burrells anti-Met force powers that need to be reckoned with.

PS: yes, I just had a drink. Can't seem to relax. Im waiting to see the Met highlights again on BB2N, and I know this is the last thing I should be doing.

Zvon
Sep 15 2007 08:03 PM

A quote from the local rag, that phocuses on the Phils.
From DiFelice, about the muffed pop behind the plate:
]"Wasn't sure where it was at first,
trying to go after it.
I think I got a little to close to it by the time
I realized it was coming down."

Lmao-I don't know about youz but this cracked me up, and I needed a good laugh too.
hahahaHAHAHAHA.
*wipes happy tear from eye.
