Wowsers - Stat of the Day

Baseball Reference's Stat of the Day Blog wows me again by compiling Team W/L in games with 5 or fewer hits in 2007. Second place over all with 7 wins in games where the team had 5 or fewer hits are your New York Mets. And the team with the fewest loses when they had 5 or fewer hits? Once again, your New York Mets with 7 losses.

Starting pitching, keeping them in the game.

Pretty cool stat, last night during the game Gary mentioned a stat that shows the Mets have the best record in the NL when they get a quality start..I forget the number of wins but I think it was 59,anyone else hear this.Darling went onto credit the pen with keeping the quality start in tact.

The low number of losses simply means that it's been very difficult to limit the Mets to 5 or fewer hits.

Pitchers who got screwed, including Masato Yoshii. Twice. Jerry Koosman got screwed as a Met.

Jerry Koosman got screwed for much of his career. He was probably a better pitcher than Catfish Hunter, and he got into the Hall.

Hence the "as a Met" phrase being attached to Jerry Koosman, not Yoshii.
