None of this "Get a lead, see if we can hold it" routine. Get a lead, and pour it on. Relentlessly. Chase that starting pitcher because you hate his ugly face. That's a playoff team. That's a championship team. I don't want to whine about no bullpens. The bullpen is what it is. Make bullpen-proof leads.

Amen to that! But IIRC the last time someone posted something similar - that they wanted to have a lineup full of "killers" (I paraphrase - it was maybe last year) they were accused of wanting to have a team too much like the MFYs. Later

I don't want killers. I want the players we already have to score more, harder, faster. I know that they can; I ask that they do.

They take innings off is their problem. Well, one of many. I agree the bullpen is the last line of defense. A lineup that's consistent and plays smart, guys who catch the ball, and pitchers who don't walk too many are the foundations.

Yeah, but it would be nice if a relief pitcher would put up a zero a little more often. When Mota, Sosa, or Schoeneweis come into a game, you can be almost certain that they'll give up at least one run.
