Frm a "game notes"-type column: Jesus Flores was selected by the Nationals based on recommendations from ex-Met manager Davey Johnson, who had been hired by Washington as a Florida-based scout last year, as well as Manny Acta. Get our old smart guys back to work for us, damn it.

Smart guys (real or seeming, exhibiting both baseball smarts and something more) who played for the Mets: Johnson Doc Medich Elliot Maddox Ed Lynch Ron Taylor Buddy Rusty Keef Ron, obviously Jay Hook I want all these guys who aren't on the payroll on the payroll, if only to keep them from grabbing rule-fivers off the Mets. It's my unreasonable morning. Only forty minutes left.

On the flip side, Jorge Sosa always struck me as looking incredibly dumb. Even before last night's gaffe. Unreasonable morning has seven minutes left.
