IGT 09/19/07 - Mets at Nationals
Kid Carsey Sep 19 2007 02:29 PM |
Ok, so I'm a little eager ...
Johnny Dickshot Sep 19 2007 02:32 PM |
This is like one of them kid quizzes:
metirish Sep 19 2007 02:33 PM |
Yikes...his cap logo.
Willets Point Sep 19 2007 02:36 PM |
Is that a sunflower or a supernova?
Benjamin Grimm Sep 19 2007 02:38 PM |
Was that from when the Mets were the "Mercury Daisies"?
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 02:44 PM |
Arizona fall league?
Johnny Dickshot Sep 19 2007 02:46 PM |
AZ fall league is correct. That also explains his No. 39 jersey. (he wears 34 with the real club).
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 02:50 PM |
That cap is for the Mesa Solar Sox.
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 03:36 PM |
NY Mets

Johnny Dickshot Sep 19 2007 03:38 PM |
Good, I guess, to see Alou in there.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 19 2007 04:46 PM |
That was my first reaction as well.
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 05:13 PM |
The Mets are shaking things up. In the first inning they go 1-2-3.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 05:14 PM |
Thank God Alou is back in there.
metirish Sep 19 2007 05:16 PM |
Jeter makes that play...
Zvon Sep 19 2007 05:17 PM |
Awwww, come on Reyes!
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 05:20 PM |
There was no way he would have thrown the runner out...he had to range pretty far to get the ball. He airmailed it into the camera-well past 1st.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 05:25 PM |
Beltran: looking: gah.
bmfc1 Sep 19 2007 05:27 PM |
We're ready Zvon: Conine the Barbarian? Conine O'Brien?
Zvon Sep 19 2007 05:29 PM |
I can do that. First let me thank him. And Lo Duca brings Alou home-- the streak adds dividends.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 05:29 PM |
Z - Conine the Barbarian. I'm begging you.
bmfc1 Sep 19 2007 05:30 PM |
Cardinals tonight--no Edmonds, no Poo-holes. Ugh.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 05:32 PM |
Alou is up to a 23-game hitting streak.
Johnny Dickshot Sep 19 2007 05:34 PM |
Conine's got 3 straight hits I think. All about his changing into No. 19
Frayed Knot Sep 19 2007 05:34 PM |
Oh no, we have a lead!!
Zvon Sep 19 2007 05:35 PM |
No doubt, Belliard is this years fat ass.
Kid Carsey Sep 19 2007 05:40 PM |
FK: >>>Oh no, we have a lead!!<<<

WFAN talkie Evan Roberts in the stands tonight and getting interviewed by Kevin Burkhardt ... which allows fans to discover that Roberts has the perfect face for radio.

Whew. Pelfrey gets out of it.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 06:22 PM |
This reads like a nice at bat by Milledge.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 06:36 PM |
Z, you made my freaking day! Too bad my laptop's busted, I can't wait to save the image when I get it fixed though.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 06:37 PM |
Reyes singles.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 06:37 PM |
Reyes singles, Castillo with the TRIBOOM to drive him home!
Mendoza Line Sep 19 2007 06:37 PM |
This is fun to watch. Good pitching, timely hitting, clean fielding - just fun to watch after all the bad baseball lately.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 06:40 PM |
D-Wright sac flies Castillo home!
Zvon Sep 19 2007 06:50 PM |
Whew.
Benjamin Grimm Sep 19 2007 06:50 PM |
Castillo must have forgotten how many outs there were.

just getting here. Paulie's gotta get Alou home!
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 06:57 PM |
God, I hate Don Sutton. I say this every time we go to Washington. But it's so true.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 06:59 PM |
Another Lo Duca rbi sac fly!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 06:59 PM |
Yes! Paulie follows through.
bmfc1 Sep 19 2007 07:00 PM |
That's Paulie's 3d SF in 2 games... he only had 2 in '06.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 07:05 PM |
Bad time for an error, Carlos.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 07:09 PM |
Sosa for Pelfrey , Green takes over in right.
Mendoza Line Sep 19 2007 07:11 PM |
Fantastic. Was just going to moan about Willie bringing in Sosa.
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 07:11 PM |
Big strikeout for Sosa!
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 07:11 PM |
Great job by Sosa!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 07:12 PM |
Perfect! That's a momentum shifter!
Zvon Sep 19 2007 07:14 PM |
a K and DP!
Zvon Sep 19 2007 07:17 PM |
Cards just screwed up their own rally with a baserunning boner.
Mendoza Line Sep 19 2007 07:20 PM |
...and the Nats fick it up! 6-3 Mets.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 07:22 PM |

Johnny Dickshot Sep 19 2007 07:44 PM |
Sosa is huge.
Gwreck Sep 19 2007 07:46 PM |
Wonder if we'd be tempted to use Wagner for 2 innings. He hasn't pitched in 5 days...
Kid Carsey Sep 19 2007 07:52 PM |
That's temptation I'd rather not tempt even thinking about.
bmfc1 Sep 19 2007 07:55 PM |
Cardinals tie it.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 07:55 PM |
Green off the bench is 2 for 2. Woohooo!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 07:56 PM |
Little help from the Cards tonight would be a wonderful thing.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 07:57 PM |
Heilman gets the ball for the 8th.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:04 PM |
*Zvon tips his cap to Heilman.
bmfc1 Sep 19 2007 08:06 PM |
I wrote about the angry Mets fan that sat in front of me the last two nights. Turns out he hosts a radio show (Tim):
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:08 PM |
Only in America. No report of Wagner up in the pen.....so Heilman gets the 9th?
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:14 PM |
I guess all my baseball feeds could have frozen at a worst time............
Mendoza Line Sep 19 2007 08:16 PM |
Wright threw a ball away and Nats have a runner on second. Wags got Nook Logan to pop up. So far, he looks like he's back in early season form.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:18 PM |
Thx.
Gwreck Sep 19 2007 08:19 PM |
Put it in the books! Thankfully!
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:20 PM |
Well, Billy, if you DON'T close the door your gonna make me look silly, cause that run might mean something.
Mendoza Line Sep 19 2007 08:20 PM |
Mets win. Hello, John Tyler.
seawolf17 Sep 19 2007 08:21 PM |
/finally starts breathing again

Benjamin Grimm Sep 19 2007 08:22 PM |
Such a strange, unfamiliar feeling this is!
metsguyinmichigan Sep 19 2007 08:24 PM |
And no one was ever as happy to see President Tyler than we are! Hopefully the Cards can get us to the short tenure of Mr. Harrison by the end of the night.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 08:31 PM |
We win at last!
Benjamin Grimm Sep 19 2007 08:34 PM |
And in St. Louis, it's still 1 to 1 heading into the bottom of the 8th.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:42 PM |
And Phils third baseman Nunez is fielding like Brooks Robinson. I've seen him steal at least 3 hits tonight, the last just now on a grounder chopped over his head that he made a fantasic leaping grab of. And Charlies smart enough to remove Burrell in left in this close game and late inning. Werth just catches a beebee to left .I wonder what Burrell would have done with that. 1-1 in the 9th. Another good ball game here.
metirish Sep 19 2007 08:51 PM |
I like the way we buit runs tonight, three sac-flies tells the story.
Willets Point Sep 19 2007 08:52 PM |
See, now that's not so bad isn't it?
Valadius Sep 19 2007 08:52 PM |
Ryan Franklin shuts Philly down in the top of the ninth. St. Looie coming up.
Gwreck Sep 19 2007 08:53 PM |
Philly had 1st and 2nd with 1 out but after going 3-0 on Victorino, he got him to hit a comebacker and then got Rollins to ground out on the first pitch.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 08:57 PM |
Yes. Even Sarge who broadcasts for the Phils now said before the game, "The Mets have to focus and start doing the little things right." In the Phils 9th Rollins is ROBBED by Spezio on a looked to be extra base hit down the 1st baseline. Phils had 2 on at the time, 2 out, and they are turned away. Now the Cards have 1st and 3rd,1 out, bottom of the 9th.
Valadius Sep 19 2007 08:59 PM |
Interesting note: Ray Knight does pre- and post-game stuff for the Nats.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 09:00 PM |
OMG--with the outfield in Victorino is able to catch a sure bloop single...no chance for and tag from 3rd.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 09:02 PM |
Phils/Cards go to extra frames.

CARDS WIN IN THE 10th!
Willets Point Sep 19 2007 09:27 PM |
Yadier "Bleeping" Molina, I love you!
Gwreck Sep 19 2007 09:27 PM |
Yadier F. Molina.
TransMonk Sep 19 2007 09:28 PM |
It was Molina's bobblehead night, too.
Frayed Knot Sep 19 2007 09:33 PM |
Nice of the Cards to actually get a 2nd run out of their 11 hits and 5 walks ... but I guess I can't complain too loudly.
holychicken Sep 19 2007 09:59 PM |
I can't bring myself to look. . .did we win?
Edgy DC Sep 19 2007 10:37 PM |
Fucking won.
Zvon Sep 19 2007 10:39 PM |

'preciate the wrapup from the in-person perspective. Thanks. Glad you got a win(!)

I'm pretty certain we didn't see an Ñ on Ñieto 's back in the eighties.
Frayed Knot Sep 20 2007 07:51 AM |
The cool thing about Sosa's first inning was not just that he got out of a 1st-&-3rd/no outs situation but that he wrapped it all up in 4 pitches:
Edgy DC Sep 20 2007 08:03 AM |
He's one of the fastest in baseball. Nook is a throwback, out of the 300-year-old deep-south colony of Natchez, MS. He's fast as light but with almost nothing in the way of secondary skills. He made some weak-assed throws Tuesday night and when Carlos Gomez, as the tying run, went from first to third in the ninth inning on a single, more Mets fans than I were kinda sorta rooting for Alomar to go nuts and send him home.
Edgy DC Sep 20 2007 08:16 AM |
Valadius Sep 20 2007 10:56 AM |
*Raises hand* And Carlos might have made it, too.
Farmer Ted Sep 24 2007 01:18 PM |
Belated as it is, I'm just back off the road. Things I learned from the game:
Kid Carsey Sep 24 2007 04:13 PM |
Edgy's driving a box truck? I gotta hear more about that.
Farmer Ted Sep 24 2007 06:42 PM |
Actually, a Honda Element. But it seemed the same.
Edgy DC Sep 24 2007 07:40 PM |
Plastic floor, no hump and seats that both fold up aganst the sides or are removeable make it car that works equally well for passengers or freight.
Kid Carsey Sep 25 2007 03:20 PM |
Gotcha, I was picturing something different.
Edgy DC Sep 25 2007 05:40 PM |
Element, baby.
