Hopefully the extra days rest will be good for Pedro.....was Glavine on regular rest or an extra days rest,IIRC he doesn't like to not pitch on his regular day and the results are not good when he doesn't,at least I think they aren't.

Did anyone see Utley do that the other night--throw to second on a steal, a short hop in the dirt. Utley went to his knees like a catcher, without all that catchers equipment, btw, and just totally threw his body in front of the ball. We need that kind of playin guys. That Phils-Wash game is tied 1-1, Howard with an opposite field homer.

I selfishly dream that this team hangs around Miami for a few years, unable to find a buyer, operating on austerity, abandoned by their fans, and becoming a home-away-from home for the Mets as transplanted New Yorkers dominate the Mets games.

I've seen a couple Mets games there -- my folks don't live too far away -- and it's kind of like that now. For all the griping about it, the yard isn't really all that bad of a place to see a game. The sight lines aren't as bad as they are in some multi-purpose stadia. The atmosphere is the pits, but the arepas -- a Cuban cornbread and cheese treat -- are amazing!

Beltran did the hokey-pokey turning one way and then another trying to catch a deep fly to the cutout in centerfield. He fucked up his knee. He didn't hit it on anything and he was walking around. He should be fine, but with Beltran he could be day to day for the next 4 years.

Seems to me that while games are frequently (read: almost every day) delayed by rain in Florida that they're rarely rained out or rain shortened. That may be totally incorrect but that's my impression and I'm sticking to it.

Shockingly, I just discovered that song about a year ago. Flint, Mich. radio must have been even worse in the 1990s than I thought. Know all the Bob Seger songs, though. Grumble, grumble. Anyway, the "Sunshine" video cuts out all the spoken word parts that explain what they're singing about.

Greedy Willie sending Mota to the plate looking to get him a second inning.

I guess Mota will get the 7th.
|
Valadius Sep 21 2007 09:53 PM |
Is Mota SERIOUSLY HITTING?!?!?!?!?
|
metsguyinmichigan Sep 21 2007 09:53 PM |
Mota's going out for a second inning.

I guess there are some among us who'd want to do that to Mota.

He actually was rather comically hitting.
|
Valadius Sep 21 2007 09:57 PM |
I thought that would be the case. Wish I could've seen it.

I would've been in favor of Mota plunking Cabrera.

I was very much in favor of him popping him up. Two strong ones by Willie Mota

How dare Mota disappoint the Met spartypants patrol like that.

Good call, Edgy. But with Green and Newhan out, who else is on the bench to go out there? Conine? Does Gotay play outfield, too?
|
TransMonk Sep 21 2007 10:06 PM |
Gomez?

I didn't either. I heard the Marlins announcers say he was out there, though. He's not on the roster at mets.com.

Clearly, since he appeared in today's game for the Marlins, the announcers were referring to his appearance in the Marlin bullpen, and I misheard. Since I've fumbled away the roster thread, I've missed some of these transactinos, but apparently Carvajal was exposed to waivers when the Mets removed him from the 40-man roster in order to activate Carlos Gomez from the 60-Day Disabled List. Zoink, claimed by Miami.
