IGT 9/23/07--Mets @ Marlins

From Delcos. Note Gomez in the lineup which means that we'll see if Lastings' outburst hurts the team. I'm surprised that Willie is going with the rookie over the vet, Shawn Green, even though it would mean a lefty-lefty match-up.

Benjamin Grimm Sep 23 2007 09:46 AM |
Maine needs to get his shit together TODAY.
|
bmfc1 Sep 23 2007 10:05 AM |
Humber goes Wednesday? Nothing against Humber but that's an interesting time for him to reappear. Pedro pitched on Friday so Wednesday should be his turn. I know that they want to give him an extra day of rest but the team doesn't have that luxury.

Benjamin Grimm Sep 23 2007 10:18 AM |

From Newsday:
Unless the Mets open up a four-game lead by Wednesday morning, I think Pedro has to pitch that game.
|
bmfc1 Sep 23 2007 10:19 AM |
I agree. Delcos has WR with the Humber news from this morning.
|
Zvon Sep 23 2007 11:07 AM |
That Phils/Nats game, now with Washington in the lead 1-0, will be the last baseball game ever at RFK Stadium.
|
Valadius Sep 23 2007 11:22 AM |
David's got his average up to .321.
|
holychicken Sep 23 2007 11:29 AM |
Looks like Maine is throwing some strikes. I like that.

1-1, middle 5th in the WAS-PHI game. Had to bring in 2 relievers to get out of the inning, one walked Howard to load the bases, the second got Rowand to ground out to end it.

i have read a couple times that beltran is the most efficient base runner who ever lived, according to some numbers somewhere. he isnt hurting his case with that move there.
|
Rockin' Doc Sep 23 2007 12:12 PM |
Delgado strikes out swinging. The Mets will need a two out hit from LoDuca to score Beltran.
|
TransMonk Sep 23 2007 12:13 PM |
Paul LoDuca is my hero.

Austin Kearns RBI single just tied up the WAS-PHI game.

TransMonk Sep 23 2007 01:06 PM |
Mets.com has him with #38.

Rockin' Doc Sep 23 2007 01:07 PM |
Marlins retake the lead on a ground ball single by Linden. Marlins at first and second with 1 out.

The Nationals go to the botom of the ninth with a 5-2 lead over the Phillies. The Phillies have their big guns (Utley - Bourne - Howard - Rowand) due up in the ninth.
|
Zvon Sep 23 2007 01:31 PM |
Thats Utley's 47th double of the season, Doc.
|
seawolf17 Sep 23 2007 01:31 PM |
You know what I always like to see? Guillermo Mota in the game. He always makes me feel so comfortable that we'll get to see a nice, long inning with lots of runs.
|
Zvon Sep 23 2007 01:35 PM |
Rowand just singled in a run, its 5-3 Nats.

|
bmfc1 Sep 23 2007 01:42 PM |

Let's hope that's the last time we see that until Friday. Nats used 7 pitchers and Cordero threw 30 pitches to get the save so maybe the 'pen will be tired tomorrow.

Nor do I give a shit about Keith's adventures in convenience stores. That wasn't "down the line Keith". Heilman can't find the plate, and when he does, the Fish bats find his balls. WE CANNOT LET THIS ONE GET AWAY. WHAT A THROWS BY ALOU! TIEING RUN OUT AT THE PLATE! 2 out. Man on 2nd.
