Bye-bye Barry

Just saw that Barry Bonds posted on his Web site that the Giants told him they don't want him back next year.

What do you think, Texas -- if anyone?

Whoever wrote that for him did a great job. I was actually touched until I remembered it was Barry Bonds.

Sixty-five hits to 3000...probably more of a motivator than the ring. Why would he stick around otherwise? What does he need it for?

Read somewhere that San Quentin is looking for a DH, I don't have a link.

Be interesting to see how willing Barry is to take a BIG paycut.
The Giants had no other bidders to compete with this past year and still gave him some $16mil. With that sugar daddy now out of the picture and the lure of the HR record acting as a value-added incentive gone as well he might have to get "insulted" with an offer 1/3 the size of what he's been used to.

Oakland is the first choice mentioned by a lot of people but they already have a power-hitting, walk-getting, no-gloving, machine; his name is Jack Cust and he'll barely cost the cost-conscious A's minimum wage.

He might get another AL team interested --- central or east. Thing will pick up in the offseason.

Or he can return to where he started and join A-Rod in Pittsburgh.

I'm hoping the Bucs sign A-Rod and go with him and a roster of rookies.
