This is no longer about heart. This is no longer about “sacking up”. This is no longer about being behind the 8 ball. There is no doubt in my mind that every player on this team knows exactly where it stands. This is the playoffs and the losers go home.

The situation is now about courage and this team is playing like it is in fear of losing. This team looks tired and defeated, yet every player needs every ounce of focus and energy. Has this team been playing badly? Hell, yes, they have. But this team does have the fundamental talent to crawl over these second division teams into the next round.

Regardless of the play over the past 2 weeks, are these men not reigning division champions? Have they not been a first place team for months? It’s time to start playing like it, because up until now it’s all been shiny and expensive wrapping paper. Now it’s time to find out what’s inside the box.

I look to Pedro, Oliver, John and Tom. The offense is erratic and the bullpen is useless. It is up to these four men to decide the fate of the team for 2007. They are all capable and have all been put into this type of situation before. They now need to pickup their team. The division is still well within reach, as is home field advantage and a couple of off days for rest before the next round begins. We are still in the driver’s seat and only need to play like it.

No more teases, no more excuses, no more losses. Just do what you do.

The waiting is what's killing me. Waiting around for 7pm to come, waiting around
for the magic number to disappear, waiting around for them to blow a five run
lead again.

Yup.

When I first got Diamond Mind Baseball, I couldn't go to bed after a disappointing loss, so I'd program the league to play all their games and advance to the next day, and play again, so I could get the bitter game out of my mouth.

Eventually, I couldn't go to bed after any loss, and with a weak team, that may mean staying up until two --- the likelihood of losing increasing as my sleep-deprived game moves became worse with each game.

I don't play that game no more.

Yeah, I hear you. I keep waking up in the morning hoping that I have slept through the end of the season. I keep lying in bed and saying to myself "this would go a lot faster if I just slept all day, everyday, until the end of the season."

I am pretty sure the Mets are making my clinically depressed.

DAMN YOU LOS METS!!!!
