No one is better at good escapism than Jimmy Buffett

The song that started it all

Its 5 O'Clock Somewhere

Probably Jimmy's biggest hit, aside from Margaritaville, Come Monday

Back to the beach with a little Son of A Son of A Sailor

Some Fruitcake action

And you want a nice big ole Cheeseburger to go along with that!

This nice, slow love ballad is on a 1990s Buffett live album, but under a new name, "A Love Song From A Different Point Of View" either way its still, Why Don't We Get Drunk...

He has been doing this for so long, it should be, A Pirate Looks at 60!

I like this nice slow one about a whino.

And we finish it up with a CSN song that Buffett has been doing live for many years, The Southern Cross

I hate Jimmy Buffett. He portrays himself as this laid back, happy-go-lucky guy, but he's a litigious asshole. He sued a pair of divorcees who dared open a hamburger stand in Hawaii called Cheesburgers in Paradise. Total fucking tool.

What Doc said. Crappy Florida tourist board songs.

As much as we want to strangle Steve J. with our bare hands, and perhaps, do that thing where you cup your hands and whack him of the sides of the head so as to deafen him, he at least is hitting upon the proper spirit of the DIMxT by forcing the audience to confront a body of work they might not like, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

I promise to attempt to get through these tunes and pick the one that makes he hurl the least and you should too.

Nobody ever said being stranded on a desert isle was going to be fun. Unless MaryAnn was there.

"Come Monday" is okay. "Volcano" is the only Buffet song I actually kind of like.

I was gonna make a crack about cult type fans and then I looked up at the
mast head and remembered I saw The Ramones over two dozen times.

I took Margaritaville, because there's always a woman to blame regardless
of what he says.

(not being sexist, just sayin' they have inexplicable powers)

Do you think the Trader Joes employee manual says "All employees will outfit themselves like dorks at a Jimmy Buffett concert?

I've seen Trader Joe's employees and I've seen people on the way to Jimmy Buffet concerts and I'll have to say that TJ's staff look relatively less dorky.

Fair enough.

And certainly less dorky than folks on the way home.

My one Buffett show was around 1991. I was completely naive of what I was walking into, but the goofball cultural touchstones weren't nearly as established as it would become over the next 15 years. You could actually go to a show, not be a fool, and yet somehow not stand out either.

Still was a bizarro evening.
