My boss's wife came across this website and as soon as he saw it he thought of me and passed it along to me.

Westport - Long Lots Elementary School - In the Auditorium it is said that a lady dressed in black floats back and forth across the stage after sunset. Orbs of light can be seen glistening in the seat section.

Um, this school happens to be one block from my house and all three of my kids presently attend.

Thanks a lot coob. Really. Thank you.

Nothing near my present residence, but here's one from my old hometown:

]Smithtown - field at the end of bow - it has been said that a small boy playing hockey on the frozen pond fell through the ice and was never seen again. many people say they have seen a lone hockey player shooting pucks whenever the pond freezes over but when they call out to him he suddenly melts into the ice.

If they mean Bow Drive, then I know that spot. I used to catch frogs and toads and tadpoles there.

I never saw a ghost there. No elves or pixies or werewolves either.

]Albany - University at Albany - Mohican Hall - Located on Indian Quad. A young ghost is said to wander the halls late at night and has startled many residents of the dorm. The first known sightings occurred in 1994.

the true story: whoever saw this was drunk and or drugged up, there arent any ghosts at my old college (or anywhere else for that matter)

]Staten Island - Baron Hirsch Cemetery - The cemetery has spirits dating back to the early 1800's. People who live in the neighborhood have reported that some of the spirits from the cemetery have gravitated to the houses near the cemetery property and have now become unwelcome residents. Shadowy figures have been seen near these homes.

More likely, these "shadowy figures" were the idiot kids who ocassionally feel the need to desecrate tomb stones here.

]Staten Island - The Conference House, next-door to The Billop House - It's said that the house is haunted by Redcoats- when walking through it you can feel someone tap your shoulder or you can hear the faint sound of singing.

ooooo scary! i've hooked up with some girls here, its actually a nice quiet out of the way place.

]Staten Island - Old Seaview Hospital - An old T.B. and insane asylum hospital, vacant and guarded by a fence-located on Brielle Ave. across from the newly situated Seaview Hospital- many spirits are known to roam the old buildings of the hospitals-spirits of tortured patients.

private property by the way, as i learned when i was about 10 yaers old and our camp counselors got an ear full for letting us wander around in there (its in the middle of the woods near a few camp grounds)

]Madison - Maple Bluff Country Club - Sightings of ghosts by staff members.

4 blocks from my current residence. The description is a little vague and could just be the pasty white rich old folk that play golf there.

I worked in this building as an historic interpreter. Allegedly the "most haunted building in Virginia." Again, never saw shit. Just had to deal with 100's of tourists asking stupid questions about ghosts. I especially couldn't stand the psychics.

]Hackettstown - Hackettstown high - Ghostly apparitions are known to haunt the auditorium at, and also people have said that they have seen small patches of fog swirling around the stage area.

hmm, patches of fog near the stage.... like where there might be smoke machines? odd...

]Hackettstown - Union Cemetery - Young girl walks the roadway heading towards up-town, in front of the cemetery. She is dressed in white. When you offer her a ride she will not speak but get in and disappear by the time you get to the main part of town. No one knows who she is or where she is trying to go.

wow, lady in white near a cemetery. how original.

now, what's disappointing is that they left out the haunting in centenary college. tillie smith, young kitchen maid said to be murdered in 1886 by the college's building supervisor - a murder sensationalized in national papers at the time - in a fit of jealousy to which he admitted (but could someone else have committed the crime?) anyways, the ghost still roams campus, and the young girl's enormous monument, "erected by an appreciative public," in the afore-mentioned union cemetery still sees small offerings. oh, and the lady in white is prolly poor tillie, and its a shame the listing there doesn't make the linkup.

my sisters once were in the youth theater club at centenary, and heard many a ghost tale about tillie, including several dire warnings about the use of ouija boards and teh appearance of her angry killer, i think.

all very much the kind of thing that jensen ackles and jared padlecki would fight against, tuesdays on the WB.

]There used to be a pool here where a little girl drowned, she is seen roaming the area at night calling for help.

The pool is still there, only now it's haunted by unemployed film students in skinny jeans and t-shirts with ironic messages.

I'm from the area, this is lame to say the least although there are a few scary people living there.

]

Tipperary - Glen of Aherlow - There are many hauntings in the Glen, namely that a certain area, Ballinacourty, is cursed. The story dates back to when Massy Dawson was the English landlord, and lived in the 'Big House', Ballinacourty House. one day a tenants wife went to one of the sheriffs asking him to make her lazy son work hard for one day. The sheriff took him, but when the mother went to collect him for the day, she found him hanging from the infamous 'Hanging Tree'. There and then she cursed all those that ever lived in Ballinacourty, that at least one member of the family would die. Although the main house burned down years ago, the curse lives on, if one would just check the death records for that area...

McElhattan - River Road RR Tracks - When a vehicle is parked on the railroad tracks and put in neutral and shut off, the car will be pushed off the tracks. It is said that many years ago (date unknown) a school bus full of children was hit by a train and all children were killed in the accident. to this day the ghost train still travels on these tracks on the same date that the accident occurred. Several people encountered this incident and they also used baby powder or flour on the back of the vehicle and after the vehicle was pushed off the tracks they visibly saw small child size had prints on the vehicle rear in the powder.

These tracks are about 2 or 3 miles from my house. Incredibly dangerous, because the crossing has no warning gate or lights (really!), they are on a very wind-y road, and the River Road alternates between farmland and forest.

I can totally see this happening, but I don't recall a busload of kids getting killed in my lifetime, and you'd think I'd remember that.

I sent cooby's ghost link to a friend that I knew had more than a passing interest in ghostly things and he told me that he's a regular contributor to that site.

The Mets, terrorists on trains and friends who are ghostbusters. My whole world is just spinning completely out of control.

Going by that description, there must have been several pools, up and down Bedford Avenue.

Easton, CT - Union Cemetery - Haunted by the ghost of a young woman known by locals as the "White Lady" no one knows of her past yet. Firemen and Police Officers have seen her on different occasions. It's one of the most haunted places in the country. Another haunting is "Redeyes" is also a well-known haunt. As the stories go, a man was walking along a road next to union cemetery when he noticed a pair of red eyes staring at him through the darkness. Upon this observation, he turned and ran and heard footsteps following him. The Warrens have done extensive research of the area. - February 2004 Update: This site is patrolled by police and will arrest you if you do not have the proper permission to do an investigation.

I have read about her (the white ghost lady) in one of my ghost story books! I think she hitchhikes

The red eye one is freaky, I'd move away from there!

]Milford - Charles Island - located off of Silver Sands state beach has a long and mysterious history. It was a point of conflict between the English settlers and the Wepaowag Indians, who regarded the island as sacred ground, connected with spirits. Following the defeat of the tribesmen, the Chief put a curse on the island, pronouncing "Any shelter will crumble to the Earth, and he shall be cursed" About 25 years after the defeat of the Wepauwags, the notorious pirate Captain Kidd, who knew the islands reputation, is known to have buried part his treasure on the island, and treasure hunters from around the country still look for this stash today. It is told that in 1850 two men found the treasure, only to run away from the island screaming about a "screeching, flaming skeleton descending from the sky" They spent the remainder of their lives in an asylum. At the end of the 18th century, a monastery was built on the island. After the monks moved in, dismissing the curse as "pagan savagery" and "Indian folklore", a series of mysterious deaths, suicides, and bouts of insanity, and subsequent intensifying hauntings forced them to abandon the monastery. The crumbling ruins can still be seen today. In the 1950s and attempt was made to open a seaside restaurant and lodge on the desolate island. A devastating and lethal fire, still to which cause remains unknown, ended whatever building projects scheduled for the Island, and no one has built upon it since. All that is left from this is a tumbling brick wall. Today, reports from hikers abound about seeing glowing specters flitting through the trees, disembodied voices, and phantom monks making processionals through the monastic ruins. One also hears of seeing nighttime Indian festivals and hearing jazz music near the old site of the restaurant. The only access to the Island is a mysterious causeway that only surfaces from the sea at low tide. People, in the summer months, frequent the island for its beach and seclusion, as well preserved trails. The ghosts wont bother you if you respect them. Just don’t build, and DONT DIG!

Here's the real story of Charles Island: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Island

The "Mysterious" causeway is called a sand bar - hardly mysterious.
