WR: "Technically"

From today's NYT:

“We’re not out of it technically, so we’re going to have to find a way to get a win tomorrow,” Manager Willie Randolph said.

That one word — technically — speaks volumes about how this team is reacting to this stunning breakdown. Technically, the Mets are still alive. Mathematically, they still have a chance. But people tend to say those words, when all hope seems to have vanished, as if they are convincing themselves that they have a chance.

What kind of crap is that, saying "technically." The Mets are still in it and he, more than anybody else, should be upbeat and rallying the troops. It ain't over, even though it might appear that way.

They have far more than a "technical" hope.

Doesn't feel like it, does it?

You think? I don't. BP's Postseason odds gives them a 21% shot at winning a playoff berth (14% champion, 7% Wild Card).

That sounds about right to me, and I don't put those odds at much above "technical."
