Congrats to the Phillies

Sorry we had to be their victim, but I can't see how Met fan couldn't admire them for taking it to us as hard as they did and by doing with a team of self-developed guys and baling wire. Yeah we gave a lot to them, but they made up a ton of ground, and were no sure bet until the final day of the year. That's a pretty admirable opponent.

So, hats off to the Phightins.

I'll be in their corner for most of the postseason. Them or the Rockies.

Momentum might carry them. Hitting might.
If Hamels and Kendrick can pitch up to their potential, they may last.

Ill tip my cap to em.

Ill go with the Cubs as long as they go.
If the Phils make the big show, I'll root for em.
I'm an N.L. man.

They won...rah, rah. I'm still not convinced they are all that great a ball team. I'll tip my cap to them for not fucking up as much as the Mets did. At least a rivalry between two teams that should have been rivals for a long time has been born.

I'll pull for a Cubs/Indians WS. Their fans have been suffering longer than we have.

I hate Brett Myers and Cole Hamels. Utley reminds me way too much of Jeter.

That being said, they remind me somewhat of the '99 Mets. Given the way they trounced us regularly during the season, they deserved to win the division.

JD's right. The Phillies brought it this season, and they deserved the NL East crown. Well played, Phillies. I, however, will be rooting for the Cubbies--and for Rollins and that big, fat mouth of his to get run over by a bus.

Credit where credit is due, I suppose, but it took them until the last day of the season to take what we'd been trying to hand them for a while.

I will never poke fun at the Cubs again, for obvious reasons.

If the Padres win today, they're my pick for the NL witb Peavy, Young, and Maddux heading up the rotation.

I can't stand the team overall, or their obnoxious fans, and I hope that they get swept. Having said that, I admire Rollins for backing up the talk. For that alone, he should be the MVP. I like Howard--seems like a nice guy (and he's carried my fantasy team for two years) and you can't turn away when he's at bat. I like Rowand--he plays all out (and I hope that he's the Mets RF'er in '08). Utley is a pro. That's four of them, individually, that I respect and enjoy watching (plus Victorino to a lesser extent). After that--SCREW 'EM!, especially Myers and that overrated, lame, mascot. Go Rockies or Padres!

Tip of the cap and all that but if it's the Padres they get to play I think they lose in four.

This team sacked up when they had to. Can't give them anything but respect. They have a deep championship lineup, forcing the Mets to try nutty stuff like trying to get six out s out of Wagner.

They deserved the division, no doubt.

With their core of young players, they'll probably be Phightin' for the division for a while, too.

The 07 Phillies will be the wet dream of every 2nd place team until the end of time. They beat the 1st place team SEVEN TIMES IN A ROW and eventually tracked them down. That's awesome.

I give them credit for taking the division when it was handed to them. But the fact of the matter is that the Mets blew it, they didn't win it.

They go 3-4 vs some of the worst teams in the league and the mets walk away with the division. Instead they go 1-6. I got nothing particularly against the Phils, but the Mets blew it way more than the Phils won it.

I agree that it was more of a Mets loss than a Phillies win.

But the Phillies did put heat on the Mets, enough heat to make the Mets play scared. So yes, they do deserve considerable credit.

I'm rooting against them from here on in, unless they meet the Yankees. I'm in the Philadelphia media market, and I'd like to be able to stop hearing about the Phillies as soon as possible.

The Cubs are close to the 100th anniversary of their last Worlds Championship. It would be a shame to end that tradition now. I think, right now, I'm rooting for Rockies and Indians in the World Series.

Sorry, the Phils won it as much as the Mets blew it. I remember a couple weeks ago when the scenario was something like, the Mets can go 5-12 the Phillies would have to go something like 12-5 to win it. And it was like har har-yeah right.

At the end of August, the Mets had a seven-game lead over the Phillies. They then beat us seven times. Face it, folks, they kicked our asses. Hard. Credit them for getting the job done and winning the division. Take those seven games out of the equation, and they were only one game better than us at the end; and ultimately, that's all that matters. Our guys could have won more games? Well, so could their guys have, and then this weekend would have been a moot point. They lost two out of three in Florida, and two out of three in Atlanta, and split a four-game set with Colorado. They lost games too.

That said, I hate Rollins, and Burrell, and Utley, and Myers, and Hamels, and the rest of those jagoffs. I hope they get swept. (I do like Ryan Howard, though.) You want a rivalry? You got one.

All this Philly hatred is unbecoming.

You know who I hate? Cody Fucking Ross, that's who. Cody and Taylor and Logan and the rest of his Florida playmates. They suck.

Tyler F. Clippard, that little fucking snot. Fuck him.

If the Phillies made the Mets play scared, the Mets still choked. It was still the Mets playing poorly because they were scared that handed the Phillies the division.

I am not trying to take away from what the Phillies did, because they did finish strong, but their strong finish would have been for naught if the Mets had just played half-way decent ball against some crappy teams.

I must give credit to Rollins, after the headlines and his first games in NY this season where he made errors and got plenty of boos and back pages he turned in an MVP season, and Manuel who I thought would get fired might well get manager of the year.
