Tired?

Mets innings by position:
SS- reyes 1431, everyone else 21.
3B- wright 1418, everyone else 34.
none of our other players stayed healthy enough to play that much even if willie had wanted them to. they each played 160 games.

does anyone think they needed more days or late innings off (especially reyes)? its pretty hard to evaluate when i cant look back at past teams and know who was rested and who missed time do to nagging non-DL injuries.

I don't doubt it, especially in Reyes' case. All that running would make one tired.

Wright was fine in September, but you can surely make a case that Reyes was gassed.

But the next time he doesn't run one out, I'm sure Willie wil give him plenty of time to rest on the bench.

The celebrated benching that supposedly marked the turning point in his season lasted all of one inning in a blowout.

Yeah, but being merely tired is an improvement. I was sick and tired the last two weeks...

That should have happened multiple times this year, or at least until Reyes got the point.

For the record, Jimmy Rollins played the full 162 and amassed a staggering 716 AB (is that a record?). The Phillies played 17 innings all year with somebody else at SS. His numbers certainly didn't drop off in September (.298, 22 R, 18 RBI, 4 2B, 5 TR, 6 HR). So I'm inclined not to think a lack of rest was the issue with Reyes.

I don't doubt that these players get tired and all that but fuck they are youngsters.

I'm so tired
tired of waiting
tired of waiting for you

Do I think tiredness was a factor in Reyes's year? .... Maybe in September, but remember that he really wasn't all that good from about early May - particularly his power.

he also set the single season record for plate appearances with 778, topping dykstra's 773 from '93.

jose reyes places 5th with 765 this year.
