I haven't done one of these in awhile but "Look Sharp" got stuck in my head this morning. This guy is a treasure.

"I'm the Man"
I had a giant rubber shark and it really made a mark

"Sunday Papers"
If you wanna know about any other suckers

"Friday"
Once you clock in, you'll take any shit, that's right. Ain't that right?

"Got the Time"
Will you shut up and get out of my way?

"Breaking Us in Two"
Maybe we could last an hour/Maybe then we'd see right through

"Steppin' Out"
We are young but getting old before our time

"Is She Really Going Out With Him?"
Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street

"You Can't Get What You Want"
You don't care, there's always something there

Look Sharp!
Well Ace, shut your face

I saw super Joe at Radio City about 10+ years ago. It was a phenomenal show... very theatrical.

the concert was shaped into the equivalent of 3 acts. Act 1 was new stuff (i don't remember which album it was); Act 2 was like a film noir using the swing-era sound from STEPPIN OUT; and Act 3 was a "greatest hits" set.

If you've got good seats, RADIO CITY is one of the best places to see a concert like that.

This is a tough one - I could name any one of four or five songs - "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" always spoke to me, especially now, but I have to go with "Steppin Out"

The piano and bells in Steppin Out still sound phenomenal, don't they?

I was one of Joe's biggest fans but I have never seen him play. I believe Edgward described a show of his recently. I was looking at website for tour dates but only found his anti-anti-smoking rants.

Quick, Joe! Tour again before you get lung cancer!

I like Joe's raucous early stuff with the big throbby bass and spit-out lyrics. The "giant rubber shark" part of "I'm the Man" makes me want to run out and buy a tube of Oxy 10 it's so emblematic of my yout, so I voted for it.

Really hard poll.

Great poll!

Look Sharp! falls into my top 20 albums of all time. I enjoy his other albums, but that is the one I have to re-buy every few years because I listen to it so much.

I went with "Got the Time" as my favorite, but I never mind hearing any of these songs.

Yes - that song still sounds as great as ever - it has aged very well.

Hate when the radio plays it on a Tuesday morning.

This is tough because I really liked Joe Jackson. I may have to think.

I've definitely eliminated ""You Can't Get What You Want ('Til You Know What You Want)."

The rest are still dogfighting it out in my psyche.

I'd put a write-in (and, yes, I double-checked the list this time and it's not there) for 'On Your Radio'

I saw JJ a whole buncha years ago on a double-bill with Marshall Crenshaw back when they had summertime concerts on the west-side piers - this one on a remarkably chilly night in August.
I actually went to see Crenshaw and came away more impressed with Jackson. This was around the 'Night & Day' time.

I asked the Missus and she said to write in the Night and Day opening cut, "Another World," which, rather than solve the problem, only put me in mind of the album's closer, "Slow Song."

So now I check in to compare those two to those already on the ballot and Knot reminds me that "On Your Radio" is missing.

This is a somewhat lusher and simultaneously quirkier version of it with his Night and Day band behind him.

The only Joe Jackson song I never really cared for on that list was "Is she Really Going out With Him" I just didn't like it. So that was an easy elimination.

"Steppin Out" seems too obvious, but I love the song, plus it was really popular when I was pregnant with my daughter, which was a very happy time for me. And the "pink and blue" part really got to me then! :)

Sitting here listening to it again, when I should be changing my sheets. Thanks for an excellent poll, Johnny!

He might be too good to be in a poll like this. I went with "I'm the Man" but on other days "Sunday Papers" "Got the Time" or "Look Sharp!" could've won. I cared less for his Night and Day period.
