I could probably come close. I could get a list of players who played for the Mets in their final season. But it would include guys like Cleon Jones and George Foster who made a brief stop elsewhere (in both cases, the White Sox) before meeting their demise.

Some big names on this list. It even starts with a Hall-of-Famer.

And here are the births. Save caveats apply. A player who debuted with another team and then came to the Mets in the same season would be incorrectly included here. (Can't think of any offhand, but maybe I'll spot one or two once I read the list.)

Check out the fresh PONYs. Only a matter of time before that brand makes a hip rebirth I would guess.

Really logo-free, or just airbrushed or black Sharpied logo-free?

For years the Mets required all-black shoes so any logos that did exist in those early days of logo-heavy shoes were blacked-out.

We played the died a Met game a while ago. We all took a year and found out who played their last game that year, no?
|
Frayed Knot Oct 17 2007 09:39 PM |
So what we need now is the intersection of those two lists, showing those who, as MLers, were Mets and only Mets.

There might be some "born and died" guys who went somewhere else in between. (Lee Mazzilli almost fit that category. And Tom Seaver SHOULD have. I can't think of any actual examples off the top of my head, though.)
