Wright Wins

David Wright, so says Marty Noble, is the National League All-Star thirdbaseman, according to balloting conducted by The Sporting News.

I'm thinking, "The Sporting News conducts balloting?" and "The Sporting News still gets out press releases?"

So I dial up www.sportingnews.com and I get myself a blank white screen. Nice.

Anyhow, your post-season TSN NL All-Stars according to the 2.5 FTE employees at The Sporting News:

Russell Martin, c
Prince Fielder, 1b
Chase Utley, 2b
David Wright, 3b
Hanley Ramirez, ss
Carlos Lee, lf
Matt Holliday, other lf
Aaron Rowand, cf

Jake Peavy, sp
Jose Valverde, rp

Pitchers were based on total wins and total saves, not balloting.

I guess Wright's looking good for a Silver Slugger this year.

Do we expect the Mets to get any Gold Gloves? Beltran is probably the most likely.

Last year's Gold Glove for the Mets: Beltran.

Silver Slugger: Beltran and Reyes.

I think Reyes sure looks like a Gold Glove candidate. Check out Tulowitzki's total chances though. Off the board.

Jeter has arguably the greatest intangible's of any player ever, which of course can't be measured by fancy stats.

1) "Jeter is great, just look at his numbers!"

But what about the numbers that show he's not so great?

2) "Jeter's greatness can't be measured by numbers!"

sounds kinda like "loduca's contribution can't be measured by his poor numbers"
