This was tough. Der Kommisar rocks me so hard but I've been using 'Rock Me Amadeus' in lieu of 'you bet your ass' for going on 20 years now. Never ceases to amaze me how many people have no idea what that means.

I'll vote when I get home, can't view vids here at work , doing a bit of wiki research and they claim that Der Kommissar was the first hip-hop song by a white rapper to be commercially successful, I don't think rapper when I think about his music, although I suppose he could be. What's the process for picking artists, every time I see who it is I am surprised .

My inspiration this morning was the title of Greg's brilliant and lengthy postmortem at his website which was "After the Fire" -- same name of the band that did an English cover of Der Komissar and became an MTV hit. It reminded me of Falco, and that led me to youtube to try and see how many songs of his I could remember. Very cool, I always thought Falco was German and reading now that he died in the DR back in 1998.....printed out the Greg blog to read on the ride home, all 17 pages( with comments)....

Falco was quite a ham before the camera. He also kind of looks like David Duchovny crossed with Conan O'Brien.
