Type A = Glavine Type B = LoDuca, Castillo, Green Type A means top 20% at your position and losing a Type A yields a 1st or 2nd round pick from the team that signs him (depending where that pick falls) plus a supplemental Type B = Next 20% and yields an extra supplemental pick Both of the above are, of course, dependant on offering arbitration to a potential FA - something I suspect may only happen for Castillo & LoDuca, the two guys they're most likely to keep.

I think they should offer arbitration to Glavine. He seems pretty intent on signing with Atlanta. They might as well get a draft pick from the Braves.

It wouldn't surprise me if mgmt had a buddy agreement with Glavine where they promised not to offer arb if/when he refused his option for '08 The problem with offering arb to Green is that the 20% max-cut rule would lock them into a salary bigger than what he's likely worth at this point.

i would certainly offer arb to glavine, a 1 year deal wouldnt be the worst thing to get stuck with and the 2 draft choices are very nice

I'd definitely offer to Glavine and Castillo. Maybe to Lo Duca, but not to Green.

I'm surprised LoDuca wasn't a Type A. Apparently they ranked Michael Barrett in front of him.

Phils seemed to have made a nice little fliparoo in Tad Iguchi who's already said he's unlikely to stay in Philly and will net them a 1st round pick on his way out the door.

Glavine, Castillo & LoDuca. The issue with LoDuca is going multiple years at a high price tag, his salary this year was $6 million odd, even if he won a raise to $7 million he wouldn't be a millstone, nor would he prevent you signing someone if there was anyone worth signing long term (which there isn't really). Same applies (but less so because there are other 2nd base options internally) with Castillo. Glavine is worth having at a decent price. Green, I don't think we should offer arb too ,the minimum he'd get would about 8 million, i don't think that's good value.

The Braves would be crazy to let us have two draft picks, including their first-rounder, for Glavine's services, and I'd rather not be stuck with him at a price he's no longer worth. We can't offer to Green. We offer to LoDuca and Castillo if we haven't already filled those spots.

I offer it to Glavine without any hesitation. Castillo too. Maybe on LoDuca. Definite no to Green.
