As long as its understood Jones needn't be a starter for the Tiggs, killer deal for them. Cubs love them weak-hitting middle infielders.

Jones also has that Ken Griffey Junior Junior look to him. Does this really clear that much salary for the Cubs? Are they cutting costs to sell the team or to sign A-Rod? The future will tell.

That deal kinda surprised me because I didn't know Craig Monroe was a member of the Cubs.

I think Cooby might still be upset with Monroe for his five SO day with the Tigers this season, was traded for a PTBNL August 23rd.

Villarreal to Astros. The Braves sent reliever Oscar Villarreal to the Astros on Friday for outfielder Josh Anderson. The versatile Anderson, 25, played all three outfield positions in 25 games for Houston and batted .358 (24-for-67). Villarreal, 26, was 2-2 with a 4.24 ERA in 51 games for Atlanta last season. Braves make a contract offer to Galvine, one year at $9 or 10 million.
