The Giants in Merry 'Ol ...

Frayed Knot

I caught part of the football game from England today.
Poor English fans got saddled with an extremely dull and poorly played game from what I could tell - although the field conditions probably had a bit to do with that. Gee, rain in London ... whoda thunk it?!?

Anyway, what I got a kick out of was the Fox crew - whoever the two guys in the booth plus that fat Goose guy roaming the sidelines - doing about an hour-long commercial for the NFL's trip into new lands, starting with an in-booth kiss-ass interview with commissioner Goodell. 'Gee Mr. Goodell, how great an idea was this?'

- In addition to that, they went out of their way to talk about how enthusiastic the crowd was ... despite the cameras showing fans sitting on their hands with confused looks on their faces that seemed to say, 'why did those striped shirts just blow a whistle for the ninth time in the last 45 seconds?'
- and then they went on about how everyone was still in their seats for the final minutes ... despite clear views of big swaths of empty seats.

I mean I realize that these networks are conditioned to jumping on command whenever the league wants them to, but can we at least pretend to be reporters every now and then?

Seemed like a waste of time to me, and really I can't watch with that stupid and pointless "Goose" fella hogging the TV time. Your right though about the game, from what little I could tolerate it looked dull, and really the Giants kicker being from Scotland as a big story is a tough sell.

My favorite part was when they said that British stadiums were made for little guys like Beckham, and that's why the turf couldn't handle 300 pound NFL linemen.
