Six Years of Pooling

Frayed Knot
Nov 01 2007 07:40 AM

Sometime ago I assigned November 1st as the birthday of the CPF.
There is actually no official starting date as the original spent months being nothing more than a rarely used refuge from 'Mets Forums Gone Wild'.
But it was right around this date in 2001 - smack in the midst of the 9/11-delayed NYY/Ariz World Series - when it started to become a more-or-less full time forum for a small band of Met fans, many of whom STILL haven't gotten a life.

Or I could be obnoxious and claim that it didn't really get going until the day that I showed up a week later ... but I'm not THAT vain.

So anyway, happy birthday to us.

Let's all have a drink to salute the CPF.

(As if we needed an excuse)

Six years in the Pool? No wonder some of you look all pruney.

And about two years of MOFO-ing before that. I have been talking to you people for way too long.

If we put as much time and energy into a money making gig that we do
here we'd be rich.

(or we'd all have killed each other working together in real life)

JCL: >>>Still I miss ambler<<<

Got an email from him some time back updating his non-online whereabouts.
I reminded him about the forum and he said he'd check it out but I don't know
if he did or does.

Love to get a money-making gig going with Crane Poolers.

Some of you, anyhow.

A side gig.

I sometimes lurk to discover him holding his own vs. 8 or 10 reactionary dittoheads at a time.

Ambler still posts on the MOFO about once a month.

Bryan works for MLB.com and I've seen 52 on IM from time to time.

Yeah, I just assumed it was common knowledge among forum gym rats
so I didn't chime in. Bryan covers the Yanks of all teams for mlbdotcom
for those interested in who's where NOW!!!

As someone who started out in the Pool without ever being to the deck that is MOFO, I'm always intrigued by these backward glances.

Hell of a place to be today, just don't say that Carlos Delgado is your favorite Met!
