Don’t You (Forget About Cle)

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!!
Oooh-ooh-ooh, Oooh, Ohh…!

Won’t you
Come see about me?
Recall ‘sixty-nine
And ‘seventy three, Baby, don’t…

Tell me
McReynolds was best
Ask your heart
Deep in your breast, see…

All-time
I’m second in hits!
You voted for Dykstra
Where were your wits?

Skin tone
Shouldn’t pull us apart
Let Cleon Jones
Into your heart, Baby!!

Don’t you
Forget about me!
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you
Forget about Cle!

Did you vote for Lenny?
Look at the poll
I’m losing to Benny!
The rain keeps falling
Rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Would you recognize me?
Call my name
Or walk on by?
The rain keeps falling
Rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!!
Oooh-ooh-ooh, Oooh, Ohh…!

I won’t
Try and pretend
I was caught in the van
With my lady friend, I didn’t...

Harm you
(Though I have few defenses
For Adultery
Infidelity, oh)

Don’t you
Forget about me
My tenure with you
Dates to ‘sixty-three, Baby…

Neyer
Left me off of his chart
Erasing my legacy
You’re breaking my heart, Baby!

Don’t you
Forget about me!
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you
Forget about Cle!

If you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you cast your vote
Will you check my name?

(Synth break here, with driving bass-drum beat)

See me on the street...
Would you walk away...?
Oh, will you walk on by...?
Come on, call my name...
Somebody call my name...

(Furious snare fill!)

I said, Laaaa, la-la, la-la-la….!!

My Song - Mike Marshall (1B/of)
Since I’m in competition with the #1 seed, this song is based on the #1 song from the #1 album of all time.

Mike Marshall

It's close to midnight, we’re down two runs, so nothing else is new
Under the moonlight, we wonder what our manager will do
We try to scream but reality takes the sound before we make it
We start to root but his decision hits us right between the eyes,
We're paralyzed

Marshall’s a rally killer, we’ve lost the fight
That choke up will not save us as he takes the pitcher’s strike
He swings like Phyllis Diller
He’s fighting for his life, a roster filler,
He’ll kill us, tonight.

We hear the door slam and realize that we’ll never score a run
We feel fate’s cold hand and wonder why we think this game is fun
We close our eyes and hope the other guys do something dumb
But all the while we watch the score board showing we’re behind
We're out of time

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
There ain't no second chance when you hit two forty-five
If we send up Mike, we can’t keep this one alive
We’re resigned to our sad plight,
There’ll be no thriller, for us, tonight

Then our guy hits it
And our manager dons costume for his masquerade
And next is ball four, maybe we can win this weird charade
But there’s no escaping, the outcome we’ve been expecting
For some time.

(Rap performed by Public Address announcer while the grounds crew smoothes out the infield, doing the Moon Walk and wearing ghoul masks)

Darkness falls across the land
The midnite hour is close at hand
Closers pitch in search of saves
Those statistics they all crave
And when they step upon the mound
We’ll never win, we’re two runs down.
The fans scream like the hounds of hell
But in our dugout, Marshall dwells
The foulest stench is in the air
He cannot hit a fastball fair
And memories of Don Grant’s Tomb
Remind us of impending doom
And though we fight to stay alive
We’ve got no arrows in our quiver
Our GM built a roster, forty strong
Of men like Mike, who don’t deliver (Into maniacal laugh, in deep echo)

(Singing resumes)
They're out to get us, the umpires are never on our side
It doesn’t matter, Mike Marshall swings at pitches far outside.
Now is the time for Met fans to cuddle close together
One inning more remains to erase a memory vile.

This is a chilly, silly sight
Marshall hits a pop up, the full extent of all his might
Our rally killer, he just might
Be the worst in all of baseball, we just lost another
Thriller, here, tonight

Close race so far. I had to go with Edgy's submission, but MFS62 is gonna make this one an opening round matchup to watch.

I ALMOST with with MFS...

but "Neyer
Left me off of his chart
Erasing my legacy
You’re breaking my heart, Baby!"

won me back over ...

Hi, Folks
Just checking in and notice I'm losing. A few weeks ago Big Train said that bribery might work. Remember the movie Erin Brockovich? DIdn't she say she granted over 600 sexual fav.... er, never mind.

Mara - THON, I already voted for you.
Incidentally, did you ever visit that site (dickiethon.com)?
If you did, were you one of the 'invited" posters? If so, under what screen name?
