Saw this movie last night, liked it a lot. Vic had it as one of his best for 2006 last year and I would agree.

It's a story of one man who's peaceful tribe gets kidnaped by a savage warrior tribe who wants them for slaves and as sacrifice for their gods, Jaguar Paw had hid his pregnant wife and son and must now escape and make it back to his village to save them.

Brutal violence at every turn but also this is beautifully shot with a brilliant chase scene.

Gripping from start to finish.

Yup. I agree. The anti-Semite made a very good movie.

Lot's of blood, gore and action.

but its not just a good, gory action film... which it is.

It's also a moving story about a young husband and father trying to return home, to save his family.

And it's also a cautionary tale about the limits of empire... no matter how indomitable a people may be, a ship can pull into their harbor that will end their world.

There is always a greater power out there, ready to bring down the apocalypse upon us, for our sins... an interesting message for a born-again christian. Maybe Brother Gibson is a prophet preparing us for the end of days.

I don't think he'd describe himself as a Born-Again Christian, but a pre-Vatican II Catholic.
