We've had good luck with backstage comedies. This appears to have been straight-to-video. The release date is 2006, but the actors reference the year 2003, which suggests that this lay in the can a few years, like The Tall Guy, Jeff Goldblum's last backstage comedy.
Almost everybody in this is playing him- or herself, and it appears to have been mostly or all improvised.
