yeah i knew that much, though if they were disseminating the same information as KCmets in the same style under that... which robert parker book did you have something under the same name published?

If you search "Monday Morning Mets" on Yahoo, you still get the kcmets columns up on top.

A former student of mine, now finishing law school, just had an article published concerning copyrights and fantasy sports (do athletes "own" their likenesses, stats, etc)...pretty interesting, if esoteric, stuff. NYMR, if you are interested I can send it your way.

I believe that MLB Advanced Media (mlb.com) tried to bring a case concerning that but got shot down. Don't know the details but I believe their goal was to get all fantasy baseball run through them or at least licensed through them. As far as I know they were not successful. Sort of along the same lines with what they were doing with fan-run, team-related websites a few years back that caused the ultimate demise of the original MOFO.

MLB itself tried to claim that they "owned" the stats generated from their games and therefore had the right to charge other sites who published them for informational or fantasy purposes. They got almost instantly slam-dunked on that one in court. The earlier stuff concerning their wars with fan-run websites (like, say, this one) had to do with the use of logos and confusion that w/could result with surfers confusing some teenager's site with the team's offical one. They're on much more solid legal ground with that one even if they were swatting flies with sledgehammers in a few cases.
