Mitt looks presidential, former Massachusetts Governor so he has that going for him.

I can't help but remember the scorn and contempt that Republicans used when they said the word "Massachusetts" during the Dukakis and Kerry campaigns.

It would be awfully funny (if not very productive) if the Democrats tried turning the tables on them.

Pretty sure Wall Street wants this guy to win, which scares me a little.

Noticed a clip of him yesterday with his sweater properly worn, not tucked in the pants, Urkel. Mentioned yesterday that the Mrs. and I thought he came across as the most intelligent candidate in the two NH debates, but also came across as arrogant and a know-it-all. Dude needs to loosen it up.

I always hoped he'd adopt the campaign slogan of 'Mitt Happens'

The whole Mormon thing probably doesn't look favorably on that sort of thing though.

He could always fall back on his Michigan/Utah background as well as examples of how he straightened out a bastion of liberalism (not that he did or that MA really is all that liberal but he could play it that way).

who is more liberal than MA besides Vermont?

]Romney told supporters in Georgia he is "definitely the underdog compared to Sen. McCain."

"But the nice thing about being the underdog is that we typically win," he said.

Looks like logic is going to be the last casualty in the Romney campaign.

Enjoy your Super Tuesday.

Holy crap this is hilarious. I'm watching CNN right after Romney bows out and a McCain ad attacking Romney comes on.

I don't think McCain is making that offer.

Love his "concession":

]"If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I'd forestall the launch of a national campaign and frankly I'd be making it possible for Sens. [Hillary Rodham] Clinton or [Barack] Obama to win,"

"And frankly in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror."

I think Mitt's wrong here. I'm a registered Democrat in California and one of the things I've been so upset with the presidential candidates over is that none of them will pledge to out and out surrender to terrorism. I'm totally afraid of terrorists and want to surrender completely, but they won't give me the assurance I need.

Who's with me?

Nor do I, but in a world where any specific guy is unlikely, and with Romney having thus far shown himself as a shrewd and calculating dude, without a current job to stay in the public eye until the next opportunity, he may think this puts him at least ahead of Huckabee if McCain is looking for someone to help win back the conservate haters.

sharpie
Feb 07 2008 12:31 PM

Things is that McCain seems to hate him personally. There are plenty of folks out there with solid conservative creds who would do it. It's not like Romney is going to help McCain win Utah or Massachusetts.

AG/DC

I'm certainly not arguing for the guy.

Benjamin Grimm

I think, if McCain is going to pick a VP from the candidate pool, that Huckabee is probably more likely.

I hope it's not Huckabee, though. I really don't want that guy in the heartbeat seat. There are probably a bunch of other governor/senator types that would make conservatives happy but who aren't so evangelical. I'd rather see McCain pick one of them.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Feb 07 2008 12:49 PM

Maybe McCain picks Bloomberg.

sharpie
Feb 07 2008 12:53 PM

If McCain picked Huckabee it would help the Democrats. McCain is an older guy who has had a history of melanoma. I would think voters would worry that if he died we'd have the goofy evangelical in the Oval Office.
