My hubby's birthday is next week, and I'm stuck on what to buy him for a gift.

What have you guys received recently that you've really enjoyed? What have been your best surprises?

Thanks.

Gaggia?

Whose idea was it to put "GAG" on a kitchen appliance?

It reminds me of a bottled drink that I saw throughout Japan: Pocari Sweat. Who wants to drink a bottle of sweat, even if it's chilled?

I got a baby for my last birthday.

Somehow, I doubt that SK is going to give D-Dad a baby this year.

Perhaps you would prefer Deepresso, Diet Water, Coolpis, or Mets Hard?

I do remember seeing Coolpis there too!

I never tasted sampled either of them, though there were times when a nice cold bottle of urine would have really hit the spot.

Peach-flavored cool pis, no less. I wonder if the peach flavoring is done in the body by eating a lot of peaches, or if it's just added later.

We are SO done with that!

No room for a 52" TV (although he'd love it)

The Dremel tool has promise - I can pop into Ace or Lowe's at some point.

Gaggia is an Italian company that makes coffee machines, especially espresso and cappuccino machines, in addition to small kitchen appliances. The company is now owned by Saeco International Group

The founder, Achille Gaggia, applied for a patent (patent number 365726) for the first modern steamless coffee machine on September 5, 1938, to be used commercially in his coffee bar. The machine forced water to flow over the coffee grounds at a high pressure, producing the 'crema' that is unique to espresso

The dude basically invented espresso and you've got the nerve to dis him? Shame on you.

But they're so cute when they're little.

Yes, but they do get to be teenagers....

And, as if on cue, D-Dad came home tonight with a suggestion for something that he'd like for his birthday (a nice portfolio for his work papers), so we'll be shopping for that this week. But thanks for the suggestions. It was Murphy's Law in action - if I hadn't started the thread, he never would have come up with an idea on his own.

(And the suggestions aren't for naught - Valentine's Day is a month away....)

A portfolio? For his work papers?

YAWWWWWWWWN.

(See, now if you could've made me an espresso I wouldn't be so tired)

Yeah, for his work papers. Boring or not, it's what he wanted.

As for Espresso/Latte makers, those are presents for me - he doesn't partake.

All the more reason to get him one.

But that's what he got me for my birthday. Seriously.

If you told me that in the first place we wouldn't have wasted all this time.

Now, where's my dopio?

Your dual citizenship? Or your Doppio espresso machine?

Meanwhile, portfolios must be in the air this week. Good friends of mine came over today with a graduation present, and it was a portfolio.

Maybe if you get him a candy pink or leopard print portfolio, it would be more exciting.
