I can understand wanting to get rid of the pixels. After all, you're not really supposed to see pixels.

I like square logos better than elongated ones, though, and I don't understand the rubber ball.

So I'd have to say I'm not crazy about either logo.

Having lived in Rochester for a while, that "X" is iconic on their corporate headquarters. Weird to see the change.

In other logo change news, the old Upper Deck (the baseball card company) logo:

And the new one:

Kinda looks like the Blockbuster logo to me:

I think the Upper Deck logo change is an improvement, but I probably would have opted to keep the green instead of the blue.

Citigroup sold off the Traveler's division back in 2005 or something, didn't they? If so, why do they still have the umbrella in the logo?

Will the umbrella be on Shea II when it opens?

Since they're expanding the image of their Smith Barney holding, they should somehow work John Houseman's face into the logo:

That's Banking Like It Oughta Be.

Logos:

]Aristotle's rhetorical logos - Aristotle defined logos as argument from reason, one of the three modes of persuasion. The other two modes are pathos , persuasion by means of emotional appeal, and ethos, persuasion through convincing listeners of one's moral competence. An argument based on logos needs to be logical, and in fact the term logic derives from it. Logos normally implies numbers, polls, and other mathematical or scientific data.

Logos has many advantages:

Data is hard to manipulate, so it is harder to argue against a logos argument.

Logos makes the speaker look prepared and knowledgeable to the audience, enhancing ethos.

Too much pathos and, especially, ethos, on the part of some presidential candidates, huh?

Actually, they're all guilty of this. It's just that some are worse than others.

I confess I never realized that was an umbrella in the citi logo! Now that I see it, I think it's brilliant. Then again, the fact that I didn't realize it until you told me makes me think "Not so much."
