They say the SAG awards are a good indicator for the Oscars

Daniel Day Lewis won best actor.

Julie Christie won best female

Javier Bardem - best support

Ruby Dee - Best support

No Country for Old Men won Best movie even though they don not call it that.

I saw Josh Brolin on Charlie Rose recently....what an insufferable twat he is, like hey I'm a serious fucking craftsman now..

Day Lewis and Christie were both extraordinary. I got no problems with those two winning the Oscar (would be the second one for each).

Most critics savaged 300. Why should I go?

And you should post more reviews here.

Because, first of all, I think it is a foundation-shifting film that may well alter the basic paradigm of filmmaking the way that JAZZ SINGER, GONE WITH THE WIND, EASY RIDER, THE GODFATHER, BLADERUNNER and THE MATRIX did.

Secondly, most critics who DID savage it did so more for thematic (i.e., political) reasons than aesthetic ones. There were also a core of critics who praised it highly.
