I need 2 more days. I'm up to my vag in work and non-work.

AG/DC
Jan 28 2008 08:16 PM

Well, I just knocked this one off and, with two more days, I will have to raise my game.

I've got to talk to Grover.

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jan 29 2008 08:38 AM

Hey turns out I'm ready to go anytime now.

AG/DC
Jan 29 2008 08:51 AM

Well, I left mine at home. I'll ask Wifey to email.

AG/DC

OK, it's on the way. Whenever (gulp) you're ready.

Oh let me play an inning in your place and help my self-esteem
I am a player of both first and third, left and center field
I sit with jobbers on a wooden bench, and hope to fill a need
Sometimes it’s days in which I sit and wait, for I am utility…

To wait on guys that I can replace, is my whole career
I will play at any time or space, though which is quite unclear

Oh, oh…

Oh, I been trying... I’ve been vying…
In baseball ain't no cryin’, no cryin’

I can play all around, any place but the mound
Just give me the command, I’ll fit like Shinjo's sweatband
Trying to find, trying to find where I fit, aaaahhh!

So many scrubs of the Mets wait to play, and fulfill their dream
Heed the man that led them to that place, first last guy on the team
At any time beneath the Flushing moon, I could return again
Soon as your star has a groin pull, you’ll call on Kanehl.

Oh, father of bench warming give me strength, and let me play for years
With no ability but the will to play, and versatility…
Ohh.

Put me in, put me in the game, yeah
I can play, play second base, today-yeah

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when you’re down...
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, then I'm found
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take your place

Let me take your place. Let me take your place…

There's action in my bullpen already

AG/DC
Jan 29 2008 09:24 AM

We're at onsies already.

Back when he was a Dickshot and I was an Edgy, JC Bucket beat me by one vote in a contest where even he admitted he wanted to vote for the card I played. Adding a cruel edge to that karmic knife is the fact that the card I played that day was also a reservist Rod --- Rod Gaspar, thank you very much.

Anyhow, I still wake up sweating in the winter, howling with flashbacks of my bitter defeat. I could have done this and I should have done that.

Now I feel like Mitch Williams walking back into the SkyDome.

Those are both great. My vote goes to AG for the Ramones usage and general "peppiness."

I was sold already by line 3, nice work ...

Johnny Ramone was a huge Yankees fan.

I didn't think it was possible to improve upon the Ramones -- but Edgy might have done it!

My vote makes it a tie!

Too late to save me.

John Cougar Lunchbucket

I did my best anyway.

Grover
Jan 30 2008 07:37 PM

Ack...Keh...Hrruck...Is this thing on?

Echk hmmmmmmmmm.

Yes, Hello to ALL---This is Grover here with Mr. AG/DC to discuss his recent EXTREMELY disappointing loss to Mr. Lunchbucket.

So, Mr. AG....how are you feeling right now?

AG/DC
Jan 30 2008 07:38 PM

I'm feeling beaten right now, G. Beaten by the champ. Beaten narrowly. Beaten by somebody who has beaten me before.

Not good, I tell you that. A year I've been waiting.

Grover
Jan 30 2008 07:42 PM

well, Mr. AG,

I can CERTAINLY understand your feelings. Is it time to talk about feelings yet? Feelings, for those of you just tuning in, are the things are Mr. AG is feeling right now---which include disappointment, discouragement and general malaise.

Mr. AG---what made you think that a song by a loser from Queens would top a psychedelic meandering from a muppet-hair-styled former drug addict?

Do you like blue?

AG/DC
Jan 30 2008 07:46 PM

Well, I made my choice no knowing where my opponent was going, but I'm glad you asked me that, because it touches on what I'd like to talk about.

Psychedelia sucks. I mean, it's indifferent toward rhyme and scansion and everything songcraft is about, and somebody parodying a psyecheclic song can be indifferently loyal toward the source song. It's two layers of indifference you voted for, Crane Poolers. I hope you're happy.

I love blue. I like a solid strong blue like on a Mets cap. Know what I hate? Swirling, trippy, nebulous, psyechedelic blue.

Let me ask a question, Gro'. Did you honestly learn anything about Rod Kanehl from John's song?

Grover
Jan 30 2008 07:52 PM

Okay, yes, I'm looking at this song and I have NO IDEA what is going on.

I'm trying hard to visualize these words with that piece of 'music', shall we say....hmmmm.

BAAD DA DUM DA DA DUM DUM DUM
BAAD DA DUM DA DA DUM DUM DUM

Honestly Mr. AG, I'm not getting anything....did others on this forum get something from this song?

Perhaps they are just remembering their LONG lost youth and
connecting the HUGE BASS and melotron phrasings with drug addled euphoria in their basements.

I myself am blue.

AG/DC
Jan 30 2008 07:55 PM

Ugh! Mellotron! See, you got me started. Now, in fairness, John Paul Jones is the most famous mellotron player in history. But you know who the second most famous is? Linda Fucking McCartney? That's how consigned to history that thing is... or should be... or... something.

Buit listen to me. Bringing the hate. You know what? This is my fault.

Grover
Jan 30 2008 07:55 PM

Talk to me Mr. AG.

Tell me about the hate.

AG/DC
Jan 30 2008 08:00 PM

I.. I didn't do much with the chorus, did I? On other songs --- like Mitchell List --- I went so far as to re-write a new chorus every time I came back to it. I just couldn't think of much I could do with that crude chorus. Maybe add "Mets! Mets!" in place of "Fun! Fun!" I mean, the typical Ramones song is what? Thirty-nine seconds? That's not a lot to work with. Zep songs can go 39 minutes. You can go visit your mother for her birthday, come back to your place and it's still playing.

But even adding "Mets! Mets!" --- and don't think I didn't think of that, G --- might have given me the one vote to swing this thing.

I hate myself, is what I hate. Why do I continue?

Grover
Jan 30 2008 08:04 PM

Well Mr. AG,

I am sensing some definite feelings happening here and I think maybe we should stop talking about our feelings at this point---or maybe you should

Adding Mets! to every chorus could be catchy. Or interesting. Or dumb.

However, here on Sesame Street, we recognize and SUPPORT unthinking repetition so I would have to agree with you that a moronic chorus would have helped the song.

Do you have any last thoughts for us MR. AG, that don't involve feelings?

Perhaps a hug would help at this juncture?

AG/DC
Jan 30 2008 08:07 PM

I just want to wish luck to my opponents and thank you for giving me the chance to get some things off my chest off the record. I think you can turn your mic on and we can do the real interview now.

Hey, wait a min... That was ON?!! GET BACK HERE, you yarney little...

John Cougar Lunchbucket
Jan 30 2008 08:16 PM

I don't know why they voted for me either. I voted for you. I thought I was gonna get destroyed.
