Would we really be worse off...

...with this guy in right field next year?

Figure Alou and Sosa at 115 games each... that leaves enough holes for Gomez and Church to get ABs. Sosa can't give us any less than Green did...

I don't know that I'm necessarily for it, but I'm not against the thought.

I don't really want the last year at Shea to be another stop on the steroid sideshow.

There are other veterans, I'm sure, who can give us what Green did (including Green) without all the baggage that Sosa carries.

Also, from my own selfish perspective, having Sammy and Jorge Sosa both on the team would complicate the Schaefer tallying.

Church really is better than Sosa, especially in the field, but on offense too (certainly against righties). I'm not against trading Gotay (I think he's redundant at this point, and a good guy to sell high on) for pitching help and clearing a space for somebody who can play right field at least some of the time against left-handed pitching, though. While I'd prefer Bobby Kielty if he's healthy (younger, defense not an issue, potential off-field distractions not an issue), Sosa appears to still be very capable against left-handed pitching and might not be such a bad fit in a limited role.
