Maine Speaks

Oh, yeah, forgot that one-hitter.

On his 2007: Jockspeak. I lot of things worked out OK. There's a lot of things I could do better. That's what offseasons are for.

One-hitter: A lot of luck. I did what I did the start before. The defense was playing well. I want to look at the bad before the good.

Mindset: I'm upset and disappointed. A couple of games did us in and that leaves a hunger in our stomache. We are a good team. Don't take us lightly.

Willie: I don't know if things will get tougher this year. Coaches are behind us 100%.

Rick Peterson: Great. Taught me more than anybody. Coming up, I didn't know much about pitching (nice work, Kevin John Maine!). I thank him for everything.

Santana: Great addition to any team. Would love to watch him every five days and learn from him as a pitcher.

Brian Schneider: Ms. Edgy interrupted this riveting interview at this point.

What? Not a whole lot of groundbreaking material there?

His response to Willie seems a bit cryptic, does he mean things will get tougher for Willie....riveting stuff.

He was bieng asked if he expected the coaches to come down harder on the team this season after them appearing to lose focus in the last month of the season. He says no, which is kind of disappointing coming from a team where at least one guy acknowledged that they were guilty of expecitng things to come easier.

While I'm every day more convinced that Lastings Milledge punched his ticket out of town by getting into a fight in the last game, I'm equally convinced that (a) it didn't have to happen,a nd wouldn't have if he had had the proper guidance and mentoring, (b) he was probably trying to spark himself and his team in his own misguided way.

Clearly Mrs. Edgy didn't want the truth about Schneider to get out.
