An All-Star team of Mets on the verge...or players on the verge of becoming Mets but never managed to make it all the way.

I call them the Never Mets:

Got any additions or omissions?

Matt Williams should be the third baseman. He was swapped for Kent and Vizcaino but then invoked his no-trade clause so the Mets traded those same playersl for Baerga and then the Injuns made the same deal (+ a couple of other players) for... Matt Williams who preferred the Injuns to the Mets.

if not for the rick reed trade, matt lawton would've earned a mention in this article.

Gotta consider Juan Gonzalez, who left the Mets offer on the table so long that it led to a rare personnel-directed comment from Nelson Doubleday of the shit-or-get-off-the-pot variety.

Leo Mazzone coaching the pitchers. Ricky Henderson almost coached the batters, but at least made it into the dugout.

Hey Zvon, or someone adept at Photoshop, it would make a great project to get the guys on Greg's list in Metly colors. Even if you can't Photoshop them on the Met Uni with their most well known uni number (i.e. it would look odd for Barry Larkin's head to be on Tim Teufel's body even if it is so Larkin can wear #11) it would look neat.
