Bedard to the Mariners, Billy Joel to Shea
metsguyinmichigan Feb 08 2008 01:05 PM |
AP is announcing the Bedard trade to the Ms. I think we're better off with Johan!

I think the show should close with Billy Joel stepping aside and letting Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr surprise the crowd and perform the final number.

The Bedard trade is part of the O's getting younger. Bedard is only 29 for crissakes.

I think it should open that way. But that's just me.

I believe that "Why Don't We Do It In the Road" is the only track featuring just McCartney and Starr. They could do that!

Yeah, but then nobody would give a damn about the rest of the show. That would be okay with me, but Billy Joel might not like it.

I'm lobbying to get my high school marching band back together. We played Shea once.

Well you can't just tell us that without giving us the details.

I liked the feather plume and the tennis balls (yet another thing that would no longer be tolerated).

"Baltimore received outfielder Adam Jones, who probably will start in center field in opening day. The Orioles also obtained reliever George Sherrill and pitchers Chris Tillman, Tony Butler and Kam Mickolio." Jones is the real prize here and is considered starter-ready now, a lot less of a question mark than anyone the Mets gave up for Santana. Also this Tillman guy is getting high praise from the prospect gurus. The biggest plus with Bedard (other than the fact that he's real good) is that he's been cheap(ish) and is under control for another two years. But he'll get expensive via arbitration and those two years are only one more than what Santana came with. IOW, that sounds like a high price the Marniers paid and, between that one and what Arizona gave up for Haren under similar circumstances, it makes the booty sent away for Santana seem quite reasonable in comparison.

Sweet story! Were you too focused on played to truly look around and absorb the moment?

I like this deal for Baltimore, Jones is going to be really good for a really long time.

Great story Lunchbucket. Did I ever tell you that we also played Shea in my senior year of HS? I think it was Domencetti's last year before retirement. Same uniforms though.

I guess it was a Mets game? Send your pics to Loge13! Go Tornados!
Jocks of course. It wasn't till we got to college and joined Tri-Lam that we banged the babes.
I just don't remember it. I have much more vivid memories of the annual Hofstra event which every LI band geek experienced I think.

So does Billy Joel avoid all his Yanqui-mentioning tunes when he plays Shea?

Well they did say Queens could stay, blew The Bronx away and sanked Manhattan out to sea...

Did Billy Jucketts really say "sanked"?
