I knew a lot of guys were unsigned going into the pitcher-catcher reporting period, but I'm still kind of shocked to see Kris Benson getting only a minor-league deal from the Phillies.

Clearly, the lesson is to not rip your rotator cuff going into your walk year. But I suspect Ms. Benson does not consider herself minor league material. Obviously, Ms. Scott Erickson and Ms. Lima learned to deal with minor league assignments, but I somehow don't suspect I'll see Ms. Benson doing Maxim photo spreads in the jersey of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

That's worth saying again. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA replacement for the Ottowa Lynx.

Love the name. They just should have put a space between the two words.

I like Iron Pigs a lot more than IronPigs.

Name refers to the area's steel history and trains. Looking forward to seeing them play; they're not far from the in-laws place.

Steel and trains, fine. Where does the 'Pig' come in?

I've never heard of a train referred to as a pig.

Have you heard of pig iron?

Here's how Wikipedia describes it:

]Pig iron is the intermediate product of smelting iron ore with coke and limestone in a blast furnace. Pig iron has a very high carbon content, typically 3.5 - 4.5%,[1] which makes it very brittle and not useful directly as a material except for limited applications.

The traditional shape of the molds used for these ingots was a branching structure formed in sand, with many individual ingots at right angles to a central channel or runner. Such a configuration is similar in appearance to a litter of piglets suckling on a sow. When the metal had cooled and hardened, the smaller ingots (the pigs) were simply broken from the much thinner runner (the sow), hence the name pig iron. As pig iron is intended for remelting, the uneven size of the ingots and inclusion of small amounts of sand was insignificant compared to the ease of casting and of handling.

Has she lost her mind?
Can we see her big behind?
Can she walk at all,
Or do her boobs make her fall?
Is she alive or dead?
Has she thoughts within her head?
We'll just leave her there
Triple A, oh, we don't care

She was turned to steel
In the small minor-league deal
Where they send the grime
This is what we hear her whine,

"Nobody wants him
He just stares off the mound
Planning his pitches
That will be hit real hard."

Heavy tits of lead
Sends blood rushing to their heads
Pumping as fast as they can
IRON PIG LIVES AGAIN!

I AM IRON PIG!!!

Too.

Fucking.

Funny.

That picture of Anna was posted when the Mets got Kris.

It was either CF or Lunchables that posted a comment that was something like 'it looks like two monkeys are having a wrestling match in her shirt'.

I'm sure I got it wrong but I thought it was funny as shit.

Note to self: Include Anna Benson in the list for Parody Contest '09.

It was me, and it was "two midgets." I stole that line from a guy I used to work with who must have had half-million ways of saying "L00k at 'em tits!"

couldn't decide between War Pigs and Iron Man, so they morphed the 2 Black Sabbath songs together into a single word name?

Maybe they'll call their mascot "Ozzy."
