Will an NFL team ever go undefeated again? And win the Super Bowl?

I thought the Pats win this one going away. When you think of the way this team, already so good, added the weapons the way they did (Moss, Stallworth and Welker were basically free)... And they have an all-time great at QB....

I just don't see a team going undefeated if this one couldn't. Reactionism at it's best.

No. It was always incredibly hard, even with a 14 game schedule. But with 16 games and then 3 playoff games to win its just not going to happen. The Patriots had the best shot but even they wore out...they haven't looked "great" (merely "very good") for a month or more now.

I'm curious to hear the reasoning of anyone who says yes.

Yes, the Jets will do it.

Because the fact that it's come close to happening shows that it's doable.
A few breaks the other way yesterday and this would have already been confirmed.

Difficult? -- yes, but doable.

Undefeated, not winless.

Certainly it's doable -- if the Patriots had sacked Manning on that one play, it would have been done.

It will take a good team, luck, and the smiles of the Football Gods (who clearly were favoring the Giants even before the game began)

People are quick to dismiss the 72 Dolphins because of their weak schedule, but I think yesterday's result underscores just how hard it is to run the table, no matter how good a team you have.
