I am terrible at pronouncing last names

And there is a disagreement in my office on how to pronounce this one:

Assalone

Normally I would just kind of wing it and get corrected, but I am afraid to say my wing it of it to the persons face because it might be a bit embarrassing :)

So any Italians on the board who can help me out? Or anyone who knows how to pronounce it, I guess.

i would go with "As-A-Low-Knee" but "Ass Alone" is much funnier, could you get away with calling him that?

Detroit contains a lot of - Armenians? with the surname "Anusbigian" - a
colleague who once did phone survey work TRIED to ask for Mrs. "Annis -
bigian" and was corrected - "That's ANUS-bigian!"

How low can we go?

Sophomorically yours,

Reminds me of the Asswipe Johnson sketch with Nicholas Cage on SNL (can't find the video).

"The name is As-weep-ay!!"

Or the beer (IIRC Natural Light) commercial about the "thick headed" guy on an interview that sees a name on a nameplate and thinks it is pronounced "Dumb Ass" and keeps repeating it, until the guy at the desks says calmly, "The name is DU-Mas."
