Braves @ Mets, 03/03/08

My love for the Mets is being put to the test: I can't watch while at work so I'm listening to the Braves radio call of the game. Pete Van Wieren the sole announcer thus far and he said something like "everybody in NY has given the division to the Mets." Really? We're optimistic but realistic. We're not Yankees fan so we see our team's faults and, given you-know-what, have realistic expectations. We may think, as I do, that the team will win the division but we recognize the threats of the Phillies and Braves. Yet, this moron tells the Atlanta fans (both of them) that we're printing playoff tickets. This just reinforces their stereotype of us as arrogant. Plus, he is confused by the fact that the Braves pitcher has the same last name as the Mets shortstop. At least once, he said that "Jose Reyes" is on the mound for the Braves.

I think Yankee fans worry too.

3 scoreless (2 Hits) for Pelfrey.

Oh, and Ramon Castro has a triple.

...and an infield single for Castro too.

Just saw Wags give up a run 2 hits and 2 SBs in an inning of work.

That would seem impossible, how did he get the triple?

The left fielder died on his way to catch the ball.

Maybe the fielder threw his glove at the ball?

What happened to the other eight men?

My first bit of spring action today. Kevin Burkhardt's been in the booth since I turned on. I like him. They prepping him for later or is he going to be in the booth some this year?

It's up to Ivan maldonado here.

He's a flat-brimmed, askew hat-wearer.

You're really getting cheated out of your ten minutes of fame when they remember you only as ...umm...Number 85. I did look to find out that his name is Tejada and he was playing shortstop in relief of Jose Reyes. Alas, I'm quite certain that Tejada's first name isn't Miguel.

Watched an hour or so of this game on the replay tonight.

Must they keep showing the old woman with all of the pins on her hat? She looks like she's wearing a turtleneck of someone else's skin. Blerch.

(My apologies to anyone who may be or may be related to this person and reading this message board).

Castro had a triple AND an infield hit today. He may go all season without getting either one again.

Castro actually looks like he's dropped a few pounds.
Not that that makes him slim or fast or anything, but hopefully it'll help him stay on the field.

And speaking of slow, Michel Abreu's dash from 1st to the plate on the game-winning hit could have been timed with a sundial. Only a double-clutch relay and a bad tag (and possibly an ump with early dinner reservations) made him safe.
