The war of words between "traditional" baseball writing and "stat-heads" gets a rather humorous treatment courtesy of the folks at FireJoeMorgan.com

It seems that after the FJM peeps carried the flag for David Wright as 2007 NL MVP, SI.com writer (and WFAN contributor) Jon Heyman not only disagreed but made fun of their pocket protectors while saying so.
The linked piece here is FJM firing back (with Heyman's words in bold).

Excellent, that Rockies person could have been the GM or could have been the parking attendant.

I remember a few years ago Edgy DC had a back and forth with Heyman while he(Heyman) was still at Newsday. Heyman used similar logic too if I remember.

Yeah, whatever. Isn't this debate so 2001?

I find FJM delights more in having something to feel superior about than actually promoting understanding. It's also mean-spirited and tired. It's not like that site is about to inspire Joe Morgan to take advanced analysis seriously, not pressure ESPN into firing the guy, nor convince Jon Heyman he's missing the boat.

Oh, by the way, I'd have voted Rollins myself.

I rarely read FJM so I guess their smarminess hasn't had enough repretitions to bother me.
And I don't particularly care about the vote itself, I just got a kick out of the back and forth.

The other news about FJM is that apparently the crew has recently "outed" their actual identities. I didn't realize that this had been a big secret (again, that lack of regular reading thing) but I guess they've been posting under psuedonyms all this time.
Anyway, it turns out they're all LA-based TV writers including one who currently writes for, and occasionally appears in, 'The Office'.

It *was* funny.

But pointing out that Jon Heyman is a moron is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Now, if they actually *could* get Joe Morgan fired...
