Will they suck again? American Idol 2008
John Cougar Lunchbucket Feb 20 2008 11:16 AM |
I'd have said the Australian guy had it all wrapped up last week but as long as he shows the judgement to choose "Light My Fire" (and burn it to a crisp) it's anyone's game on the guy side.
metirish Feb 20 2008 11:29 AM |
I thought the Aussie choosing "Light my fire" was a terrible decision, why do so many go for the Doors. I thought for certain he would go with an INXS song, he seems perfect for that.
Centerfield Feb 20 2008 11:30 AM |
That fake rocker guy bugs me too. I hope they catch him listening to NSync during his free time. The Peter Frampton look-alike that looks like he died two weeks ago also bugs me. I'm also don't think that the Rasta John Travolta was any good either. Still the Australian's to lose I say.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Feb 20 2008 11:33 AM |
That's funny, I got a Travolta vibe from White Rasta Boy too. You just know he's from an upper-middle-class suburban town.
seawolf17 Feb 20 2008 11:34 AM |
You could knock off about seven of those guys last night right now and it wouldn't matter.
Centerfield Feb 20 2008 11:45 AM |
I'm just glad they dropped the crying kid who lives in his car.

So am I, he sucked, his story sucked and his arrogance sucked. The first two tonight, Kristy Lee Cook and Joanne Borgella get the show of to a bad start.
metirish Feb 20 2008 06:34 PM |
Alaina Whitaker the third girl out blows the judges away, she was good enough that Cowell said he hated the song but she was so good she made the song decent.
Farmer Ted Feb 20 2008 07:26 PM |
Mrs. Ted is a big follower of this show. She showed me some of the "Idol Blogs" that say that many of these wannabe finalists have already had contracts as soloists or with bands and fell flat. I saw this season dubbed as "The Semi-Pros." What, no more Kelly Clarksons or Carrie Underwoods out there they have to dig up rehashed talent?
seawolf17 Feb 20 2008 07:31 PM |
I can't be more bored with this show this year. This is by far the most uninteresting group this show has had.
Fman99 Feb 20 2008 07:40 PM |
This show is about as appealing as a cock-flavored lollipop.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Feb 20 2008 09:06 PM |
Mmmmm, co.... um.. wait.

My favorite chick is Asia. I also like the rocker nurse with the skunk hair and the short asian chick. I'll be rooting for those three. Syesha is great, but I'm not sure I like her yet. Had high hopes for the Irish girl but she bit it bad last night.
metirish Feb 21 2008 08:04 AM |
I thought the Irish girls was one of the better ones along with sexy Nurse, Simon seems to have it out for the Irish though, wanker.
Farmer Ted Feb 21 2008 08:12 AM |
I was hoping to hear more about the chick from Oregon who sold her horse to fly to Philly for the audition...and her striptease website.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Feb 21 2008 08:23 AM |
She sucked. Hopefully she's voted off on her own (lack of) merits. This looks like the year that AI has completely jumped the shark.
HahnSolo Feb 21 2008 09:21 AM |
You know, of the judges I really can't stand Randy.
metirish Feb 21 2008 09:30 AM |
Irish chick might become a campaign immigration issue if they don't shut up about it.
Centerfield Feb 29 2008 08:22 AM |
I thought for sure the rocking nurse was going home. The dude with the girl's voice was lucky to survive. I'm guessing he's the first to go next week.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Feb 29 2008 08:57 AM |
I missed parts of both shows this week and the elimination. Who got tossed?
metirish Feb 29 2008 09:22 AM |
The guys that went were Jason Yeager the dork with said blonde streak, absolutely killed " long train running"...the the first girl to go was Alaina Whitaker, then they booted Robbie Carrico and Alexandréa Lushington , not for nothing while Robbie is totally fake and was not great he's a lot better than at least 4 of the guys....Danny Noriega, Chikezie to name two....oh and Whitaker the 16 year old broke down after getting booted, and in a bad way , in her words it was embarrassing.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Feb 29 2008 10:17 AM |
I thought her tooth-gap was adorable.

Thanks for ruining the Beatles, kids.

I guess tonight really answered the question in the thread title with a resounding "yes."
Centerfield Mar 13 2008 08:33 AM |
So long to the gay stripper.
Farmer Ted Mar 13 2008 09:35 AM |
They're planning on trashing the Lennon/McCartney songbook again next week. Can't they send more than one home for crissakes? I think it'll come down to Carly Simon vs. CHA-KEEEEEEE-Z.
seawolf17 Mar 13 2008 09:41 AM |
I can't decide if that Carly girl is gorgeous or not. I do like Chikezie a lot. You can get rid of everyone except Chikezie, Carly, the blonde girl who looks like she's 40, the Australian guy, the dreadlocks guy, and the Archuleta kid right now and just let those six battle it out.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Mar 13 2008 09:45 AM |
I was really blown away by how bad they all were. I mean, how awful is it when Chiqueeze gives the best performance?

She's the best looking female left so she HAS to stay around somehow despite her "interpretation" of "Eight Days A Week." The swimsuit model has been cut and the best looking woman of the fans tribe on "Survivor" has been voted off--I hate that!
bmfc1 Mar 13 2008 11:35 AM |
That was bad news. The songs are fantastic but if you're gonna be really proud to finally have the rights to Lennon and McCartney songs, then perhaps they should be sung the way Lennon and McCartney intended. Instead, we had the Earth, Wind & Fire version of one song, the Stevie Wonder version of another, and whateverthehell Cook did to "Eight Days A Week." Show some respect for the brilliance of the material.
Farmer Ted Mar 13 2008 01:28 PM |
My question is who owns the Lennon/McCartney songbook? Michael Jackson? That may answer WHY it's being featured on Idol. How about Jim Carrey whoring his new movie on Idol?
seawolf17 Mar 13 2008 01:43 PM |
You think whoever does own the rights watched the other night and said "sunuvabitch, I knew we should have held out another season."
metirish Mar 20 2008 07:13 AM |
I know it's not the best group this season but I was shocked that "Rocker Nurse" got the boot last night , "Irish Chick" got a rude awakening being in the bottom three and I think she will be better for it. The other bottom feeder should have got the boot.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Mar 20 2008 07:35 AM |
We're still at the point in the competition where the Unable-To-Wins-No-Matter-What are still being picked off, the order in which they go don't matter but for Amanda's lucky avoidance of what should be a really gay tour of state fairs this summer.
Frayed Knot Mar 20 2008 07:53 AM |
So, for someone who is dropping in on 'Idol' for the first time this go-round having never before seen a minute of it, is it going to go on like this for the next 10 weeks; taking two shows and three hours to eliminate just one person each time?
seawolf17 Mar 20 2008 10:27 AM |
Yes, and I agree. Amanda was terrible and needed to go, and JCL is spot on with Kristy Lee Cook. Damn, she looked great the other night, though. Take Chikezie out of my final six and put her back in. Kristy, Carly, Australian guy, dreadlocks guy, Archuleta, and the blonde girl who looks like she's 40. Ramiele is terrible, Syesha is boring. Emo guy is okay -- liked the talkbox, but he can go. How 'bout Kellie Pickler, eh? Damn.
metirish Mar 20 2008 10:36 AM |
Pickler looked great, some set of knockers , are they real?, country music suits her.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Mar 20 2008 10:40 AM |
It'd been funny had he whipped it out for the young patients.
seawolf17 Mar 20 2008 10:42 AM |
No frigging way.
Frayed Knot Mar 20 2008 12:02 PM |
Who was she, some previous season contestant?
John Cougar Lunchbucket Mar 20 2008 12:12 PM |
Yes she was the dumb blonde country girl from a few seasons back. Overdid the dumb act a la Susanne Sommers and woulnd up being memorable for dumb people. Belongs in a Vegas show.
metirish Mar 27 2008 12:53 PM |

Chikezie got the boot last night and rightly so, his song choices are brutal, I find Carly Simon to be s real flake, last night in the time wasting segment to promote iTunes she was talking about how amazing and daunting it can be to be in a recording studio, all those buttons and gadgets that go into recording their songs, STFU , you had a major label album out a few years ago so don't act like you've never been in a studio before. I've had a feeling for ages that the others on the show hate her.
Centerfield Mar 27 2008 08:38 PM |
I think from now on we should be clear on who we mean be "Carly Simon". Is it the girl named Carly? Or the blonde one that looks like Carly Simon?
metirish Mar 28 2008 04:44 AM |
Absolutly my bad, I meant Carly Smithson.
metirish Apr 08 2008 08:38 PM |
Forget American Idol , this is Paul Potts doing his audtion for "Britain's Got Talent".....he would win the thing.
Rockin' Doc Apr 09 2008 06:09 PM |
I have never been a fan of opera, but I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing it well. Even to my untrained ear, I could tell how immensely talented Paul Potts was (is).
Farmer Ted Apr 11 2008 02:04 PM |
The Australian one-time Jim Morrison-wannabe nuked after trying to be a Steven Tyler wannabe.
Frayed Knot Apr 11 2008 02:42 PM |
I guess what makes these kinds of shows interesting is when you develop a favorite who you're pulling for - or against for that matter.
Farmer Ted May 01 2008 01:43 PM |
Carly Simon exits. Someone vote the Archuletta kid off and send him to Disney where he belongs.
metirish May 01 2008 01:48 PM |
Paula is a fucking riot , did you see her Tuesday night?
Frayed Knot May 01 2008 01:54 PM |
Or at least stand on his neck and jump up and down for a while
HahnSolo May 01 2008 03:25 PM |
The Paula thing has caused a bit of controversy on line now that judges are admitting that they base their part of their comments on dress rehearsal performances.

Yeah that kid really could use a punch in the face.

Frayed Knot May 06 2008 09:42 PM |
I think it's time for dreadlock boy to go.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 07 2008 09:48 AM |
Castro looked higher than Paula Abdul last night, that's saying something. I still think there's a chance he advances even though he doesn't want to as Syesha goes home.
metirish May 07 2008 09:55 AM |
I watch now knowing that they are all rubbish ,and that helps , Castro was rubbish and should be binned tonight , I though Syesha did a decent job on a tough Sam Cooke song.
Farmer Ted May 07 2008 09:59 AM |
Archuletta will win and do nothing more than Burger King jingles. The show needs to take a year off and re-group IMO.
metirish May 21 2008 08:39 PM |
David Cook won , didn't see it , in fact I forgot to watch. I was doing the garbage instead, shocker.
DocTee May 21 2008 09:24 PM |
Just watched the Paul Potts video--thanks for sharing, he is amazing-- but "a little lump of coal who's going to turn into a diamond" might be the most backhanded compliment in history.
John Cougar Lunchbucket May 22 2008 07:22 AM |
You just know Archie's creepy Mormon dad gave him the beating of his young life last night.
Centerfield May 22 2008 10:20 AM |
My wife said the same thing about Archie's dad. I'm glad David Cook won. He's probably the best they've had on the show since Kelly Clarkson.
themetfairy May 23 2008 02:20 PM |
In typical Comcastic fashion, our cable tv and Internet crashed on Wednesday night. I didn't take much note of the time, other than the fact that the Mets were still flailing away in Atlanta when we lost all contact with the outside world (well, I could have found a radio, but that would have required getting up....). Anyway, it was a couple of minutes before 10:00.

I can't wait for FiOS to be available throughout NYC , they recently reached an agreement with the city to offer their service in all five boroughs and it should be city wide in the next few years.
themetfairy May 23 2008 02:40 PM |
FiOS is in my township - just not in my development yet.
seawolf17 May 24 2008 12:09 PM |
Weird... that's like how sunspots or something killed the TV feed for us just before Todd Pratt hit his home run against the D'backs.
