Knowing that rock 'n' roll is nebulous form, with much overlap with such sister genres of soul and blues and country, please review these clips and tell me whether Dusty Springfield gets rock 'n' roll cred, and therefore can be measured among the British Invasion contemporaries.

I don't know Dusty all that well, but I do know 'Son Of A Preacher Man' and once you listen to that, your question is answered.
