Raising Him Right

MiniWolf turned two on Saturday... and finally, he gets it. We're so proud. Can't wait to get him out to Shea this year.

Cute stuff. I don't think there are too many two year olds who can do that
and take the time and attention to place the cards over behind him instead
of just flicking 'em about when he's done with one too.

Too cute :)

Great stuff, what other cards were you showing MiniWolf?

Excellent. Little IJ Lunchpail still recognizes all baseball things as "Mets." He took a bite out of a Mackey Sasser card the last time he played with my collection.

On the plus side, the guy l-o-v-e-s peeing in his potty. Just did so for the first time this weekend.

Congratulations on the potty milestone! But don't be too surprised if there's a little backsliding.

I don't know if this is typical of most kids, but with both of mine they figured out the potty training and were very proud of themselves. But once the novelty wore off and the excitement died down, they decided that it was more convenient to just go in the diaper.

We had to then get them excited about the prospect of switching from diapers to pull-ups, and then from pull-ups to "big boy" or "big girl" underwear in order to keep them moving forward.

Yeah, so we've read. To be honest, we're surprised at how fast he's taken to it. He also makes it fun by reading a magazine while he sits just like his dad.

I had to bribe my little guy to potty train with a Robin Ventura Salvino's Bammer (this isn't the exact one, but it's representative). I've always felt extra warmly about Robin because of that.

Congrats on getting Little Lunchbucket trained so early - even if he does backslide, you're way ahead of the curve!

We keep getting close on the potty training, but he's only actually peed once. He'll sit there for a minute or so, but he hasn't quite gotten it. He tells us that he needs to go potty, but what he usually means by that is that he just went potty. But it's at least a step in the right direction.

Very cute video Wolf.

Great memorization technique, Wolf.

Baby Ted LOVES the toilet, BTW. When it's time to go, she blurts out "Nasty", a term we always used when trying to clean up one of her diaper blowouts (as in, "Damn, that's NASTY!"). Whatever works. Giving her Mets stickers as a reward for good "Nasty" technique keeps her interested in the toilet task.

I just watched the video again for kicks, and I'm amused at Peanut in the background, totally bored with the whole situation and just wishing I would get up and get him a bone.

A picture of me and my boy in our Mets gear (from last summer).

His favorite players are Jose Reyes and David Wright, he tells me.

How about now? (I moved the pic to a different hosting site).

He looks a lot like the kid in your avatar. It's nice to see you're not only raising him as a Mets fan, but also as a golfer.

I see him now.

He seems to have shanked one into the firetrap. Tell him to take the drop. That's experience talking.

Same kid -- the avatar pic is him age 10 months. The photo above is last summer, age 2 1/2.

He loves golf and baseball, and bowling also in fact. And "X games" style stuff like bike and skateboard tricks. Lots of sports in our house.

I knew that - I was just yanking your chain a bit.

Hey, make sure you never to call somebody a "cunt" in his presence. Small kids using cuss words is not cool.

Agreed. Mrs. Fman and I are very careful about the language we use at home and in front of our children.

I save that for the forums (and in hushed tones at the workplace ;)
